At the launch of Honkai: Star Rail, many players noticed the similarities between Clara and Klee from Genshin Impact, even in terms of their highly devastating and destructive abilities. Furthermore, since Clara shares the same rarity, path, and element as the initial form of Trailblazer, she was often compared to the main character, despite their different kits. Although initially regarded as weaker compared to other 5-star characters, Clara's popularity has grown as players have leveled up and optimized their characters, thanks to her exceptional damage potential that surpasses many other DPS characters.
Honkai: Star Rail – Best DPS Characters, Ranked
From single-target, AoE, pure damage, to DoT, there are multiple types of DPS in Honkai: Star Rail and some are stronger than others.
In particular, when combined with the right teams, Clara is able to perform exceptionally well, thanks to her Counter follow-up ability. With her companion, Svarog, Clara not only deals additional damage but also becomes a resilient character, benefiting from taking damage to deal even more damage. Fortunately, players have access to excellent light cone options for Clara, including free-to-play options, making her an outstanding character to utilize in various content in Honkai: Star Rail.
Updated October 13, 2023, by Elara Leclair: Since the launch of Honkai: Star Rail, players have been introduced to a large variety of new 4-star and 5-star characters, from different elements and paths. With that being the case, so far 3 new 5-star Destruction characters have been added to the roster, all boasting strong abilities. Regardless, Clara still remains as the only Physical Destruction character up to date, not taking away from her utility for challenging content where players can well utilize her element for weakness break. Luckily, with new Destruction characters being added, so did their signature light cones, some of which perform better than even Clara's own signature light cone.
8 The Moles Welcome You
- Base ATK (LVL 80): 476
- Base DEF (LVL 80): 264
- Base HP (LVL 80): 1058
- Effect: For every Basic ATK, Skill, and Ultimate used by the wearer, the wearer gains one stack of Mischievous. Each stack increases the wearer’s ATK by 12%/16%/18%/20%/24%.
Honkai: Star Rail – Best Himeko Light Cones, Ranked
The best 4-star and 5-star light cone options for Himeko unlock her true potential as an AoE damage dealer.
The Moles Welcome You is an excellent 4-star light cone that is generally suitable for every Destruction path character that scales with ATK, as it gradually stacks. However, it is important to note that the light cone's wording is rather misleading, as it will not stack infinitely. Instead, it can stack up to 3 times, with each stack being obtained from either basic ATK, Skill, or Ultimate respectively. Therefore, players need to ensure that they use all of these abilities at least once as soon as possible to maximize the stack count and obtain a significant ATK increase, even without any additional superimposition levels.
7 Nowhere to Run
- Base ATK (LVL 80): 529
- Base DEF (LVL 80): 264
- Base HP (LVL 80): 952
- Effect: Increases the wearer’s ATK by 20%/25%/30%/35%/40%. Whenever the wearer defeats an enemy, they restore HP equal to 12%/15%/18%/21%/24% of their ATK.
Alongside unconditionally increasing the wearer's attack, Nowhere to Run also serves as a defensive option by restoring the character's HP. This makes it an excellent light cone for farming easier content, especially due to its high ATK modifier compared to other 4-star Destruction light cones. However, it's important to note that the condition for the secondary effect makes it less versatile than many other light cone options for Clara. Not only does she need to be the one to deal the final blow, but it is also not particularly useful in battles against solo bosses where there are no weaker monsters present. Another downside of this light cone is that it is only obtainable through purchasing Nameless Glory, making it inaccessible to F2P players. Additionally, players who are interested in choosing an option from Nameless Glory may prefer selecting another option, such as one for the Harmony or Erudition paths, before considering this one.
6 A Secret Vow
- Base ATK (LVL 80): 476
- Base DEF (LVL 80): 264
- Base HP (LVL 80): 1058
- Effect: Increases DMG dealt by the wearer by 20%/25%/30%/35%/40%. The wearer also deals an extra 20%/25%/30%/35%/40% of DMG to enemies with a higher HP percentage than the wearer.
Honkai: Star Rail – The Best Silver Wolf Light Cone
Silver Wolf Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail can either boost her utility or focus more on her personal damage.
A Secret Vow serves as the best 4-star light cone option for Clara due to its DMG buff, which has the potential to frequently double the damage dealt thanks to its secondary effect. Clara benefits from taking damage, especially in the early stages of battles where stronger enemies have not yet sustained much damage. Additionally, players can consider pairing Clara with characters like March 7th to enhance the utility of this light cone. Not only will shielding Clara make her more likely to be targeted, but it will also allow her to mitigate more damage in later turns if players aim to keep her at lower HP, thus extending the usefulness of this light cone throughout the battle.
5 Brighter Than the Sun
- Base ATK (LVL 80): 635
- Base DEF (LVL 80): 396
- Base HP (LVL 80): 1164
- Effect: Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 18%/21%/24%/27%/30%. When the wearer uses their Basic ATK, they will gain 1 stack of Dragon’s Call for 2 turns. Each stack of Dragon’s Call increases the wearer’s ATK by 18%/21%/24%/27%/30% and Energy Regeneration Rate by 6%/7%/8%/9%/10%. Dragon’s Call can be stacked up to 2 times.
Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae's light cone, "Brighter Than the Sun," is not the most ideal option for Clara, but it can still perform well as a good stat stick. Clara can benefit from the added Crit Rate, but she won't fully utilize the secondary effect of this light cone due to her kit not prioritizing basic attacks as it does for Imbibitor Lunae or even Blade. However, when stacked, it can help Clara gain more ATK and improve her Energy Regeneration, allowing her to use her Burst more frequently. This light cone can work for her, although there are better choices available.
4 On the Fall of an Aeon
- Base ATK (LVL 80): 582
- Base DEF (LVL 80): 396
- Base HP (LVL 80): 1164
- Effect: Whenever the wearer attacks, increase their ATK by 8%/10%/12%/14%/16% in this battle, up to 4 time(s). When the wearer inflicts Weakness Break on enemies, the wearer’s DMG increases by 12%/15%/18%/21%/24% for 2 turn(s).
Honkai Star Rail: What Is Weakness Break And Toughness?
The newest title from HoYoVerse adds a new elemental combat system for players to discover.
For players seeking a free-to-play option, they, fortunately, have access to an effective 5-star light cone called On the Fall of an Aeon, which can be obtained by collecting enough Herta Bonds from completing the Simulated Universe. This also allows players to quickly max out the superimposition of this light cone, resulting in a significant and unconditional increase in Clara's ATK. Furthermore, when Clara depletes the enemy's toughness meter, she also receives an additional damage increase. Therefore, this light cone proves particularly useful in challenging content against enemies with a weakness to Physical damage.
3 Something Irreplaceable
- Base ATK (LVL 80): 582
- Base DEF (LVL 80): 396
- Base HP (LVL 80): 1164
- Effect: Increases the wearer’s ATK by 20%/25%/30%/35%/40%. When the wearer defeats an enemy or is hit, immediately restores HP equal to 6%/7.5%/9%/10.5%/12% of the wearer’s ATK. At the same time, the wearer’s DMG increases by 20%/25%/30%/35%/40% until the end of their next turn. This effect cannot stack and can only trigger 1 time per turn.
Unsurprisingly, Something Irreplaceable, which also showcases Clara in its artwork, serves as Clara's signature light cone and, therefore, one of the best light cone options for her due to how well it synergizes, at least until potential future limited-time event light cones are released. Not only does Clara benefit from an unconditional ATK buff, but she also gains easily activated HP restoration and a damage increase every turn whenever she is hit or when she defeats an enemy. As long as the party does not include another character with a significant taunt ability, such as Fire Trailblazer, Clara can almost always benefit unconditionally from this light cone.
2 The Unreachable Side
- Base ATK (LVL 80): 582
- Base DEF (LVL 80): 331
- Base HP (LVL 80): 1270
- Effect: Increases the wearer’s CRIT rate by 18%/21%/24%/27%/30% and increases their Max HP by 18%/21%/24%/27%/30% . When the wearer is attacked or consumes their own HP, their DMG increases by 24%/28%/32%/36%/40%, of which the effect is removed after the wearer uses an attack.
Blade's signature light cone, The Unreachable Side, functions similarly to Something Irreplaceable, even though it emphasizes the HP stat over the ATK stat that Clara scales with. However, this light cone unconditionally boosts Clara's Crit Rate and has a similar damage increase condition to Something Irreplaceable. As such, players seeking to maximize Clara's Crit values will benefit more from The Unreachable Side. On the other hand, those who prefer a more defensive option will still benefit more from Something Irreplaceable, thanks to its HP restoration ability.
1 I Shall Be My Own Sword
- Base ATK (LVL 80): 635
- Base DEF (LVL 80): 330
- Base HP (LVL 80): 1164
- Effect: Increases the wearer’s CRIT DMG by 20%/23%/26%/29%/32%. When ally gets attacked or loses HP, wearer gains 1 stack of Eclipse, up to a max of 3 stack(s). Each stack of Eclipse will increase the DMG of the wearer’s next attack by 14%/16.5%/19%/21.5%/24%. When 3 stack(s) are maxed out, an additional attack will be delivered that ignores 12%/14%/16%/18%/20% of the enemy’s DEF. This effect will be dispelled after the wearer delivers their attack.
I Shall Be My Own Sword is generally considered one of the best Destruction light cones due to its effects, which are beneficial to all Destruction characters. It offers an unconditional Crit DMG increase and a significant damage boost with each stack gained when allies are attacked or lose HP. While Clara herself benefits from being attacked, if paired with the right team members or facing enemies with mostly AoE attacks, she can still trigger these effects easily, enhancing her overall strength. However, this light cone is generally more suited for Jingliu than Clara, but it can be a good option if players don't have access to Something Irreplaceable and want to equip Clara for specific battles, even if it means moving gear from other Destruction characters.
Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
