Having the right equipment is crucial in finding success in turn-based games like Honkai: Star Rail. These items, known as Relics and Planar Ornaments in HSR, provide stat increases and effects that give characters an advantage in combat. Honkai: Star Rail will release the brand-new units in Version 3.3, and it looks like one of the new Relic sets coming out in the same patch is tailor-made for one of them. The other set may be created for an unreleased character.
For those new to the game, Relics are equipment sets that boost a specific attribute, like SPD, ATK, CRIT DMG, and more, when a player uses multiple pieces from the same set. Equipping at least two matching pieces will provide a stat bonus. Meanwhile, having the complete four will unlock a special effect that players can trigger under certain conditions. Two new Relics will be released in Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.3, and they come with a few interesting effects and bonuses.
Pokemon is About to Have a New Unexpected Rival
A new developer is looking to challenge the Pokemon franchise's decades-long dominance in the creature collection genre once more.
Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.3’s New Relics Cater to Upcoming Characters
HSR’s first few Relics offered simple stat boosts and effects, which suited the equally straightforward kits of earlier characters. As units became more specialized, with abilities honing in on follow-up attacks, weakness breaking, and now memosprites, the game had to create new Relic sets to cater to such unique abilities. Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.3’s new relics -- the Warrior Goddess of Sun and Thunder, and Wavestrider Captain -- are perfect examples of the newer and more complex Relic effects.
Warrior Goddess of Sun and Thunder Looks Tailor-Made for Hyacine
| Relic Set | Two-Piece Effect | Four-Piece Effect |
| Warrior Goddess of Sun and Thunder | Increases the wearer’s SPD by 6% | When the wearer and their memosprite heal other allies, the wearer gets the “Gentle Rain” buff, which provides a 6% SPD and 15% CRIT DMG buff to all allies. This can be triggered once per turn and lasts for two turns. It is not stackable. |
From the stat bonuses and unique effects, this Relic set looks like it’s specialized for healer-type sustains, specifically those with a memosprite. The only character that currently fits that bill is the upcoming Remembrance unit, Hyacine. She restores allies’ HP using her skill, and when teammates get hit, her memosprite Ica heals them immediately. This allows the unit and their summon to provide consistent healing throughout the fight. Therefore, she can consistently keep the Warrior Goddess of Sun and Thunder’s “Gentle Rain” buff active.
Gentle Rain offers excellent boosts for a Castorice team comp, where Hyacine is likely the best-in-slot support. The SPD buff allows Hyacine and supports like Tribbie to get more turns, and therefore more energy for ultimate activations. The CRIT DMG buff also lets Castorice and her memosprite hit harder, as if they don’t already burn enemies into a crisp with their one million-plus damage combos.
Wavestrider Captain Could be the Perfect Piece for a Future Character
| Relic Set | Two-Piece Effect | Four-Piece Effect |
| Wavestrider Captain | Boosts the wearer’s CRIT DMG by 16% | When a teammate uses a targeted ability on the wearer, the latter gains one stack of “Help.” If they have two stacks, they can use them up with their ultimate to increase their ATK by 48% for one turn. |
The "Help" buff applies to both the character’s ult and their subsequent action. If the wearer uses their ultimate during their turn, Help's buff can carry over until their next turn.
This set looks like it’s made for Honkai: Star Rail's damage-focused units with its whopping 16% CRIT DMG boost, which is the first of its kind. Plus, its conditional 48% ATK increase can lead to a big burst of damage. This may be a set for a future character that gains special abilities or significant buffs that boost their basic attack or skill after using their ultimate.
Existing damage characters that somewhat fit this niche are Yunli and Clara. Since the Help can last until the next turn when used correctly, the units' counterattacks will also get buffed. Characters that can rapidly charge up their ults, like Acheron and Anaxa, can utilize this set. However, players need to ensure that they have two Help stacks and that they use their ultimates during their turn first before using any skill or basic attack to trigger the set’s ATK boost.
