Horizon Forbidden West is one year old and Guerilla Games and Sony are taking the chance to celebrate the milestone, reminisce on the journey it took to get here, and thank the fans it has inspired and fascinated along the way. Sony has published some game statistics like the game's most used weapons, armor, machines defeated, and more while Guerilla Games released a heartfelt video focused on the developer's love for Horizon community projects like cosplay and fan art.
A PlayStation Blog post details how the community has enjoyed the game and the items that have spawned from the franchise. Horizon Forbidden West has produced many collector's items for dedicated fans throughout the year and fans have shown their appreciation. The game has sold roughly 10 million copies since its release and Sony reveals how players have spent their time with it, whether it was fighting machines in the Arena, flying, or simply gathering food ingredients. Horizon Forbidden West fans can get 11 free character PlayStation profile avatars to proudly show off their love of the game and their favorite character to the rest of the PlayStation community. Guerilla developers went into great detailing their favorite creators, works of art, and the people that made them. Some developers own items made by community members like a book of Horizon Zero Dawn fan fiction or reveal themselves to be fans of specific content creators.
With one year now passed, the Horizon franchise looks to the future as the game's universe continues to expand. Spin-off game Horizon Call of the Mountain is PlayStation VR2's flagship game and Horizon Forbidden West will be releasing the PS5-only Burning Shores DLC on April 19. Horizon Forbidden West is also now available on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers.
