The past few years have seen a wide range of developers deliver some amazing horror games, and this trend is set to continue through this year. While some of the titles on the upcoming schedule are more recent announcements, two in particular have been on the radar for quite some time, though updates regarding them have been few and far between, and of those, some were less than encouraging.
Just recently, though, this has changed, and fans got some good news about Silent Hill f and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. Both are highly-anticipated installments in their respective IPs, and many have been eagerly waiting for them to emerge onto the market. The latest information points to them potentially being closer than ever to nailing down a release date. What to Expect From Horror Games in 2025
Horror games had a big year in 2024 with titles like Silent Hill 2 and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 released, and 2025 looks to keep up that momentum.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 and Silent Hill f Might Be Set Up For A Double Feature Soon
Silent Hill f and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Have Been Hiding in the Shadows
Silent Hill f was announced in 2022. Being developed by NeoBards Entertainment (Devil May Cry HD Collection, Resident Evil: Resistance), it's poised to be an intriguing entry in the seminal psychological horror series. Among the few known details is that Silent Hill f will be a prequel taking place during the 1960s in Japan instead of the iconic town of the franchise's namesake. Fans have understandably been curious to see how this vision will play out, but not much else has been shown since its reveal.
Alongside Silent Hill f, Silent Hill: Townfall is also currently in development.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has been in the works even further back, being revealed in 2019. It subsequently experienced multiple delays, changed hands between studios numerous times, and at one point Bloodlines 2 was nearly canceled. Due to this, it was sometimes thought to be indefinitely stuck in development hell, never to see the light of day. Suffice to say the two titles have been a long time coming, and fans may now have reason to believe both will finally release soon.
South Korea Rating Silent Hill f and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Could Indicate Their Release is Nigh
The latest news is that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 and Silent Hill f received official ratings from the South Korea Gaming Board. This implies they are almost if not fully complete and their release is possibly imminent. Backing this up, developer The Chinese Room had previously posted an update stating that Bloodlines 2 is set for "the first half of 2025." While NeoBards has not provided a comment or update regarding Silent Hill f's rating approval at the time of writing, it nevertheless is a positive sign.
Assuming the above does indeed mean Silent Hill f and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will be getting firm dates soon, horror fans will surely be celebrating, as both launching earlier than expected would be most welcome. If they do end up coming out close to each other, not only would that be an excellent double feature, but will also likely set the stage for some of the other promising horror titles set to release in 2025. While it should be kept in mind no dates are confirmed as yet, in the most optimal outcome, players will be able to dive into Bloodlines 2 and Silent Hill f sooner rather than later in 2025, and kick the year off strong for horror.
