Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is an open-world RPG with a direct questline for the player to follow, but that doesn't mean you don't get to explore every nook and cranny of the world along the way. The main quest of the game is fairly linear, but the game doesn't stop you from going anywhere your heart desires, within reason.

One of the locations you'll visit on your expedition on the main continent is the Gestral Village, a fantastical, joyous, and fun village where you'll find troll-like creatures that love to fight, known as Gestrals. One of the puzzles you'll be asked to solve in the village will be by the resident gambler, located quite far off from the main area.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - Best Side Quests That Are Easy To Miss

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has some great optional content, but some of it can go overlooked. Here are the best side quests gamers might have missed.

Where to Find the Gestral Gambler in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Once you find the Gestral Village by progressing the main quest, travel to it from the map and enter it, defeating a boss in the process. Once inside, you're free to explore and can make your way to the Gestral Gambler in relative peace.

  • Go straight until you see a sign that says "The Chief House." Then, turn left, following the sign pointing towards the Arena.
  • Keep following the signs until you reach the Arena. From there, turn left and take either of the two paths in front of you.
    • The left path will directly lead you to the gambler's den. If you take the right path, take the second left, right before the sign that says "The Chief House."
    • From there, follow the left path, going towards the sign that says "An Unbearable Smell Lurks Away."
  • At the end, both of the paths will converge at the gambler's den, where you'll see a small Gestral waiting in front of a lavish walkway.
  • Go down the walkway and climb the stairs to reach the Gestral Gambler.

Correct Answer for the Gestral Gambler in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

correct answer for the Gestral Gambler in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Once you reach the Gestral Gambler's location, interact with the creature, which will prompt it to ask you the following question regarding gambling:

Let's say that every time I hit, I have a 50% chance of dealing 100% more damage. What are my chances of dealing more damage in the long run?

You will get four dialogue options, which you will need to choose from. Don't worry, though, even if you get it wrong the first time, you can try again and brute force your way to the correct answer. The four options are as follows:

  1. Same chance.
  2. Lower chance.
  3. Higher chance.
  4. I don't care.

The correct one is 4. I don't care. All the other options, according to the Gestral Gambler, are indicative of someone who doesn't enjoy the thrill of gambling. Choosing them will prompt a dismissal from him, though you can start the dialogue once more whenever you want.

Reward for Answering the Gestral Gambler in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Once you guess correctly, the Gestral Gambler will tell you that a true gambler appreciates the thrill, not the odds. Then, he will give you an interesting new Level 5 Pictos that you can equip, Roulette.

The text for the Pictos reads as follows:

Every hit has a 50% chance to deal either 50% or 200% of its damage.

Though it might seem like a bad deal at first, it's actually a net positive for the player to equip this Pictos. Using the principles of Expected Value, you can find the mean damage you would do over time, which comes out to 1.25 times your actual damage.
