Donkey Kong Bananza was developed by the same team that worked on the 2017 Switch hit, Super Mario Odyssey, which means that there are a ton of different outfits and accessories to customize Donkey Kong and Pauline with. If you liked the outfits in Mario's adventure, you'll certainly find at least one favorite clothing option for the unlikely duo.

Once you go through the intro level in Ingot Isle and make it to the first official map, Lagoon Layer, you'll have DK's Classic Tie and... No pants.

How to Get New Clothes for DK and Pauline in Donkey Kong Bananza

Style Shop Visit

You won't be able to purchase new clothes in Donkey Kong Bananza until you reach the Style Shop in Lagoon Layer SL101. The shop has its own special icon on the map and is run by a monkey shopkeeper. These shops will appear as you traverse through other layers in the game, but the only way to purchase the items is with hidden fossils.

If you're running low on fossils and want more clothing options, you can always go digging in random spots around the map to search for chests with treasure maps leading to fossil locations. You can also find missing Banandium Gems this way. Or, you can always just buy maps from shops.

How to Change Outfits and Clothes in Donkey Kong Bananza

The Ape, the Singer, and the Wardrobe

Once you have your new clothes in hand, you will need to enter the nearby closet to actually equip the clothes on Pauline and DK. Approach the wardrobe and press the A button. Select the A button again to confirm.

There are three types of clothing options for DK, which are...

  • Fur Color
  • Neckwear (ties)
  • Britches (shorts/pants)

Unlike the costumes in Super Mario Odyssey, most of the outfits and clothing options in DK Bananza can actually give you boosts, whether it's being able to swim faster, increasing your collectible Sonar range, or extending Bananza form time.
