Battlefield 6 has what might just be the smoothest movement system in the franchise so far. The developers have rejected the fast and jerky movement style in favor of a more grounded approach, and this includes the addition of a Combat Roll technique.
Things can get pretty hectic during a Battlefield 6 multiplayer match, and when the bullets start flying and the buildings start falling, you'll want to know how you can avoid getting sent back into the spawn screen. Combat Rolls can help a lot with the latter, assuming you know how to do them.

How to Combat Roll in Battlefield 6
The Combat Roll is a defensive technique that lets players mitigate fall damage. You can do this by pressing your Crouch button as soon as you hit the ground from a high place, usually from the third storey of a building or any other similar height. This will cause your character to roll forward, preserving their momentum all the while.
There does appear to be minimum and maximum limits on how high up you can do a Combat Roll from in BF6. No matter how well you time your button press, your character simply will not roll if their position was too high or too low. This means you can't mitigate fall damage if you jump from a moving tank, nor can you mitigate it if you jump from a helicopter or the third floor of a building.
Combat Roll can be used if you jump or fall from a height of roughly 8-12 meters. Once you get a good feel for this limit, you can use Combat Roll in tandem with your parachute for fast (and stylish) landings. If you're not sure if a fall is safe enough for a Combat Roll, one useful tip is you can double-tap your Ping button to see how far away you are from the ground.
You will carry your momentum forward when you perform a Combat Roll, which means you can use this to traverse terrain quickly or escape from a collapsing building by the skin of your teeth. Don't forget that you can pull out your knife to move faster.
If you're having trouble performing a Combat Roll in Battlefield 6, try changing your key mappings. On PC, the Crouch button is bound to the Ctrl and C keys by default, but for some reason, only the C key works when you're trying to roll. If you're using a controller, press B/Circle, and if you're not comfortable with that, use the Alternate control scheme to map your Crouch button to R3/RT.
If you're having trouble performing a roll, try holding your forward movement input as you're falling.
