These days, a good number of gamers have access to more than one system, with a lot of games such as Path of Exile 2 coming to multiple of those systems. In the case of Path of Exile 2, a single account can take many hours of investment, with players getting attached to those characters and not wanting to lose their progress or stash.

While Path of Exile 2 does have a cross-play system, many will be wondering if this means there is also a cross-progression system. Here's how to link your account, along with exactly how cross progression works.

Path of Exile 2 does feature full cross progression, letting you play any of your characters on any system as long as you link your accounts. To do this, you'll need to go to the official Path of Exile website and follow the steps below.

  • Log in using your account info for your current system with your Path of Exile 2 account.
  • Once logged in, link an email to your Path of Exile account.
  • An email will be sent with a link to log in to verify the email and let you set a new email for the Path of Exile account.
  • Back on the website, now logged in, click your name in the top left of the screen, then select, "Manage Account" along the right side.
  • Select the other system you wish to link, and another email will be sent.
  • Use the link in the second email to log into your other account, then click confirm that you want to link the accounts and that this decision is permanent.
  • On the new platform, in the character creation screen, switch the profiles in the top left to see the list of characters on your linked account.

The website will say just, "Path of Exile" but this also links your Path of Exile 2 accounts.

Do You Need to Buy Path of Exile 2 Twice?

The Player Opening An Abyssal Arsenal

This article is being written during the PoE2 early access, when players need to buy access to the game. If you're trying to link your accounts during this time, yes, you will need to buy the game again on the new system you want to play the game on. While the accounts do link, your license for the game does not, requiring a new license to play the game on your other console. That being said, the game will eventually be free to play when it fully launches, so you can always wait until that time to fully take advantage of cross progression to reach the endgame.
