Supermarket Together is a pretty chill, laid-back game on the surface. You’re put in charge of building a supermarket from the ground up, and if you want, you can even invite some of your friends over to your store to lend a hand. Each day, you stock the shelves with new products and set the prices, and customers come flocking in when the store opens and buy your products.

But that all changes once you start messing with the difficulty options in the game. With higher difficulty levels, the game becomes harder. But what exactly does it change? We’ve compiled this guide to highlight everything you need to know about the difficulty settings in Supermarket Together.

What Does a Higher Difficulty Do in Supermarket Together?

supermarket-together-more-customers

Ramping up the difficulty in Supermarket Together puts the game in overdrive. Here are the main things that change as you increase the difficulty level:

  • From Day 1, more customers will start coming in. They’ll also get impatient faster during checkout, which means they’ll have a higher chance of becoming thieves later on.
  • Speaking of thieves, the number of people stealing your products will also increase. So you’ll need to always be on alert unless you want to incur loss on your products.
  • Lastly, you’ll also see more litter around your shop. Unless you clean it up quickly with the broom, your customers will start complaining about filth.

Although Supermarket Together is pretty easy to handle at 0 difficulty, even when you’re playing solo, at higher difficulties, things quickly become a lot more stressful.

There’s an upside to all this, though. Since you’re getting more customers from day 1, if you manage to handle the pressure, you can easily make good profits right from the get-go. This means you’ll be able to start expanding your store faster, and soon, you’ll have a successful and busy superstore in your hands.

How to Adjust Difficulty in Supermarket Together?

Supermarket Together lets you adjust the difficulty levels from 0 to 7, but you can only set it when you’re creating a new store. Once you create a new store, the difficulty will be fixed at that level.

For beginners, we recommend sticking with 0 difficulty, at least, until you understand the basics of Supermarket Together. Play the game through to at least the first two weeks, and then create a new store to try out a higher difficulty with your friends.

If you plan on ramping up the difficulty in Supermarket Together, here are a few essential tips:

Play with Friends

Playing Supermarket Together at a higher difficulty solo is just not fun. However, if you’re playing with 2 or 3 friends, each handling a specific part of the job, things become a lot more exciting.

Be Proactive

You need to think ahead when you’re playing Supermarket Together at a higher difficulty and optimize your store's operations. Make sure you keep backup stocks of all products in your Storage Room. If you’re playing as a group, make sure someone is in charge of ordering new products and restocking the shelves. Also, have someone guard the entrance to catch thieves and clean up the litter.

Place Two Checkout Counters

Having one checkout counter is fine for lower difficulties, but for difficulty levels 4 or above, we recommend building a second one. With two separate counters manned by two different players, you’ll be able to keep the customers' lines moving and ensure they don’t get impatient.

Bumping up the difficulty in Supermarket Together can make things challenging, but with friends, it’s a fun challenge to overcome. Enjoy the game at your own pace, and only increase difficulty if you feel like it.
