Find a Friend
As far as we know, the only way to evolve Haunter into Gengar in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is through trading. This means you need to connect online and use a Link Code to find other trainers willing to trade. Because of the nature of the evolution, you need to find someone you can trust who will return the newly evolved Gengar to you.
Luckily, there are online codes out there on the internet that people use to trade a specific Pokemon, especially the ones that need it for evolution purposes. The Link Code you can use for trading Haunter is 0066-0066.
It's worth noting that you may need to be subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online if you want to battle or trade with other Legends: Z-A players.
How to Trade in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Link Trade
To trade with other players in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you have to go to the Link Play section of the menu and then choose 'Link Trade' at the top-right. On the next screen, you can choose to trade with a nearby player or with someone far away. After that, you will be asked to input an eight-digit Link Code.
If you have a friend ready to trade with you, both of you just need to make sure you use the same code. Try not to choose something simple; otherwise, you could end up trading with the wrong person. Do not accidentally give away your Haunter!
How Do You Get Gastly and Haunter in Pokemon Legends: Z-A?
Wild Zone 4
You will eventually gain access to Wild Zone 4 in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which is where you will find a bunch of wild Gastly floating around. They will actually appear during the daytime, so there's no need to rest on a bench to pass the time.
