There are quite a few pieces of legendary gear in Borderlands 4 that are outright references to pop culture, and Aegon's Dream is one of them. The gun's name itself should make it instantly recognizable to fans of George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series, and much like the books and the show that spawned from it, this weapon is pretty good.
Farming bosses in Borderlands 4 is fairly straightforward, but if you want to maximize your odds of getting Aegon's Dream, you'll need to go and bully a specific enemy from a very early location in the game. Here's what you need to do.

Borderlands 4: Aegon's Dream Drop Location
Aegon's Dream is one of the three dedicated legendary items that can be target-farmed from Horace, Indomitus Sol's spymaster. You can find Horace in the aptly-named Horace's Oversight in the Fadefields. This location is part of the Borderlands 4 main campaign, and after you finish the mission that takes place here, you'll be able to find Horace's boss marker on the map.
Like all other boss farming locations here, you need to walk all the way to the boss arena. You don't have to fight everything in your way toward Horace's place, but we'd still recommend it if you aren't in a hurry.
Recommended Loadout
For Horace, we recommend a Maliwan Shock Shotgun with the Beam Cutter underbarrel attachment. This shoots a Y-shaped elemental laser beam that deals absurd damage on hit, and it bounces off surfaces as well. If the tri-beam bounces from the correct angle, it can potentially hit enemies again. Depending on how strong you are, you can strip Horace's shields completely with just three Beam Cutter shots.
Once Horace's shields are gone, bring out an Incendiary or Kinetic weapon, then just shoot Horace in the face until he croaks. He has a miniscule chance of dropping a random legendary item on death, and if you want to improve your odds, you'll need to increase the difficulty you're playing on.
What Does Aegon's Dream Do?
Aegon's Dream is an Incendiary Vladof assault rifle with a gold perk called Prophetic. This makes the gun fire both Incendiary and Cryo rounds at an extreme rate, making it great for dealing with both Flesh and Armor health types. Unfortunately, both of these damage types are horrible against shields.
Shots from Aegon's Dream alternate between Cryo and Incendiary. When its Double Barrel attachment is active, both damage types will fire from the gun simultaneously. The flavor text reads "Finish the song!" And it is a direct reference to A Song of Fire and Ice and how G.R.R. Martin still hasn't finished the series as of Borderlands 4's release.
