The Bloober Team made a faithful remake of Silent Hill 2, expanding on several locations and iconic moments in the game. This led to Silent Hill 2 Remake becoming a lengthier game to beat compared to the original since it takes players considerably more time to explore every location.

Apart from the exploration, enemy encounters were also expanded upon giving the veteran players a not-so-familiar experience with the game. With that said, let's take a look at all the chapters/locations for Silent Hill 2 Remake and figure out how long it takes to beat the game.

How Long Does it Take to Beat Silent Hill 2 Remake?

Maria by a neon dream sign in Silent Hill 2 (2024)

Silent Hill 2 Remake puts you in a world that demands exploration of every nook and cranny if players want the full experience. On the first playthrough, it'll take players anywhere from 18 to 20 hours to beat the whole game on normal difficulty. A 100% completionist run will add another 5 hours, bringing the total time to beat the game to roughly 25 hours.

However, this time is highly variable as it depends on how much time players spend exploring each location, figuring out puzzles, having trouble with bosses, and tracking hidden collectibles. There is an achievement in the game that requires players to beat the game in under 10 minutes. So, it's entirely possible to finish earlier on the second playthrough if you have the special Chainsaw weapon, know where to go, and the solutions to every puzzle.

Silent Hill 2 Remake is designed to be replayed as the game had eight different endings, with six being the remake of the original and two being new endings. To acquire other endings, players need to collect special items or perform specific actions in their playthrough. This can add to the overall completion time of the game, but not by a lot.
