Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is by no means a small game, offering players the chance to rebuild entire villages rather than just a farm. Not only that, but there are crops to harvest, gear to upgrade, characters to befriend and romance, and quests to complete. As such, some players may be wondering just how long Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is, and how much time they can expect to live out their ideal fantasy life before there's simply nothing else left to do.

You'll need a lot of money to support four villages and your own upgrades in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma.

How Long Is Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma?

A Lot of Hours Ahead

It took me about 20 hours to complete the main storyline in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. For this, I primarily beelined through the main quests, completing bonding quests and other side activities for characters I was interested in establishing as friends or romantic companions. I also made sure I was spending time gathering resources and building out my villages enough to maintain a good level of income so that I wasn't in a deficit with the cost of feeding my villagers. I also made sure I was upgrading the gear of my character and party members so that they could hold their own in later combat-based quests.

However, just because you've beaten the main story doesn't mean you're done with the game entirely. Players can still spend time further building out the villages in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. There are also the hundreds of frog statues to track down and sky islands to explore, some of which have their own side quests linked to which can add a handful of hours to the game's total playtime.

Depending on how much time you invest in leveling up your bond with different characters during the main storyline, too, there are some bond quests to complete the further you better your relationship with a character. You can also romance a character of your choice, which in my experience took longer than the length of the main questline. As such, there's about 100 hours of content in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma for completionists looking to see and do everything that the game has to offer.

Ultimately, with Slice of Life games, such as the Rune Factory series, the amount of hours a player can get out of them depends on how much they're enjoying the core gameplay loop. For those looking to escape to a fantasy world where they can grow crops, fight monsters, speak with a varied cast of characters, and enjoy that, the game doesn't have a defined ending. You can keep playing for as long as you want.
