How To Mark Enemies In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Marking enemies can be done in a few ways, depending on your build and the Pictos or skills you have equipped. Some skills will say, "Applies Mark" with a red X, such as
Marking Shot. Enemies hit by a skill that applies mark will leave a red X on that enemy until they are attacked again by someone in your party. Skills that apply mark will always mark an enemy as long as the attack does hit, though Pictos give more flexibility on your build, although with some chance.
Which Pictos/Lumina Apply Mark
The following Pictos or Lumina give you a chance of applying Mark or maintaining Mark, letting you further take advantage of the effect without needing a skill to do so.

What Does Being Marked Do In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Whenever a target is marked, the next attack that hits them will do 50% more damage. This can be further stacked on other percentage damage increases, from other Pictos or Lumina, making it a very powerful setup right before a later party member uses a devastating attack. It doesn't matter what attack hits the target, they will lose the Marked status without any other modifier. This means even a good counter will remove Marked. Being Marked doesn't go away on its own, as anything Marked will stay that way until they get hit and receives the multiplied damage.
Your party can also be marked, so be sure to heal and even buff a party member who is marked to make sure they don't go down from one hit.
You'll always want to hit a marked enemy with your strongest skill possible, even if it means skipping a turn. There are additional Pictos/Lumina you can find that give additional effects to a marked enemy, making it one of the more versatile and maybe the most useful status effects in the game.
