Elden Ring Nightreign encourages players to find two teammates and take on expeditions as a team. If you use the in-game search feature to find your teammates, there will be no way of communicating with them, so you'll need to rely on the ping system.

Pinging is an easy way to mark something on the map or even a special item that's on the ground. Moving around Limveld fast and efficiently is key to getting strong enough before any night, making pings necessary even when you can talk to your teammates. Here's how to ping both on the map and while in the game on a specific item.

7 Most Ambitious Games By FromSoftware, Ranked

FromSoftware has been the source of some truly groundbreaking games, but these particular examples are arguably the most ambitious.

How To Ping In Elden Ring Nightreign

You can ping anytime on the map, as many times as you want, with no restrictions. Pings stay until removed during the first two days and nights, letting you ping your next step even if the circle cuts you off. You can only have one ping active at a time, and pings appear both on the map and on the compass of every player. To ping, simply open the map and hover over the location you want to ping, then press the following button:

  • PlayStation - R3
  • Xbox - Right joystick
  • PC - Press the Mouse Wheel

Each player, no matter their character, is assigned a color, and your ping will be your color. Should two players ping the same location, the new combined ping will turn white, indicating a consensus. To remove your ping, just hover over it on the map and press the ping button again to have no active pings. If you place a new ping, it will replace the old one. Whenever a player places a ping, a notification will appear in the bottom right of the screen letting you know who pinged and the map icon they pinged.

Pings also appear as beams of light in the world once you reach the location that was pinged.

How To Ping Items & Self In Elden Ring Nightreign

You can also ping items so they are highlighted for your party members to see and possibly pick up. Just like map pings, you can only ping one thing at a time, and pinging a new item will unping the last one. To ping an item, you'll first need to be standing over it and get the prompt to pick it up. From there, you'll press the following buttons:

  • PlayStation - Hold Triangle, then press L3
  • Xbox - Hold Y, then press the left joystick.
  • PC - X

Using the same commands above without standing over an item will still drop a ping where you are standing with your character's icon for your teammates to see.
