Elden Ring Nightreign has a heavy focus on the multiplayer aspect of the game, as it all defaults to you partying up before going on your first expedition. While this game seems to have live-service elements to it, FromSoftware came out to confirm it is not a live-service game.

Can You Play Offline In Elden Ring Nightreign

Despite how things may look at first, Elden Ring Nightreign can be played offline, without the need for an internet connection or the necessity of playing online with other people all the time. The game does default to being online, though this is nothing new for a FromSoftware title, as all of their games have some sort of online system. Overall, you can choose to play the entire game on your own, as playing multiplayer is only a recommendation and not a requirement.

How To Switch Between Offline & Online In Elden Ring Nightreign

If your system overall doesn't have an internet connection, the game will log you in offline, with it otherwise defaulting to logging you in online. It's best to determine if you're playing online or offline in the game menu, and you're able to see your current connection status in the bottom left corner of the screen. If you're currently offline, the, "Log In" button will appear below New Game, and pressing it will connect you to the server and make your status online. You are able to connect online or disconnect to go offline, either in the main menu at any time while in the Roundtable Hold:

Go to the System option of the main menu.
Scroll down to, "Network".
The fourth option down will be Launch Settings, which you can set to on or offline.

This setting only determines the connection status of your game whenever you load into a save file, so s witching between online or offline mode will require you to go back to the main menu and reload your current file. If you are playing offline, you'll still need to set up a solo expedition and begin one that way, otherwise, you'll get an error message for trying to start a multiplayer match despite being offline.
