The basics of the main gameplay loop for the Recluse are using various spells or incantations from your weapon to take advantage of her passive Elemental Defense. Whenever you deal damage to an enemy with an element, it leaves a circle locked around the enemy, with the color determined by the element they were hit with. This residue can then be collected with her Character Skill Magic Cocktail to restore FP, but also prepare a stronger spell.
How To Restore FP As Recluse
FP management is crucial for this class, and you'll need to balance the spells from your weapon and your Character Skill to make sure you never run out. Collecting residue from enemies with your Character Skill will restore FP, and can be done after hitting an enemy with any spell. Balance out hitting enemies with spells and using your character skill to keep your FP up, and constantly cast spells.
It's also helpful to carry Starlight Shards with this class, just in case you run out of FP and need to jump-start your Character Skill combo again.

The key to playing Recluse is learning how to weave her Character Skill into your flurry of powerful spells and incantations. Treat her Magic Cocktail spells just like any other, and cycle through them quickly, even on weak enemies, to keep up on restoring FP. You'll want to use your character skill every other spell or two to quickly make stacks and use the really powerful spells, since these will usually outpace your basic options.
Her Ultimate Art is a great option against bosses when fighting with a group, letting everyone recover as long as you use it at the right time. If you stagger a boss, that is the most ideal time to use this so everyone can get fully healed before the boss gets back up. Also, take advantage of her Ultimate and the brand to spam your strongest spell or incantation, as your only limitation will be your stamina.
