Elden Ring Nightreign offers a large map for even three players to explore during the two in-game days you'll get to run around. While a major focus of Nightreign is on the multiplayer aspect, players can choose to go into the game alone.
Playing alone does offer a unique experience and additional challenge for those looking for it, along with all the same rewards if you can survive the many dangers of Limveld. Here's how to play solo in Elden Ring Nightreign.
Elden Ring: 7 Prevailing Themes That Are In Every From Software Game
There are a few obvious themes that developer FromSoftware just loves using in all their games, and these are the best of them.
How To Play Solo In Elden Ring Nightreign
You can choose to play solo anytime, both online and offline, by interacting with the Roundtable at Roundtable Hold. The first menu that will appear is the expeditions menu, and tabbing over will open up the Matchmaking Settings menu. From here, scroll all the way to the bottom to, "Expedition Type". The only two options are:
- Multiplayer - play with a group of three
- Single Player - play alone. (Which is great for trying out new characters for the first time)
Selecting Single Player will let you then begin any expedition you currently have unlocked completely alone. This setting will stay in effect until you go back to the Expedition Type option and change it to Multiplayer. Both game modes exist in your same save file, so anything earned and collected can later be used with friends or on your own, depending on which you choose.
At the time of writing, there is no way to play with just two players.
9 Best Elden Ring Bosses, Ranked By Most Satisfying To Beat
Elden Ring bosses are often fast and extremely challenging. Here are some of those that are both difficult and satisfying to beat.
Does Elden Ring Nightreign Scale Down When Playing Single Player
The major downside to playing alone is that you won't have allies to play additional roles in combat or deal additional damage to some of the spongier bosses. That being said, all enemies' health when playing Single Player is scaled down. Their overall damage won't change, but the lower health will be very noticeable and will make just about every boss possible to beat on your own.
That being said, there are many bosses and even Nightlords that have multiple bosses attacking you at once, and this will not change when playing alone. Even though the health of enemies is scaled down, the overall challenge is decently higher when playing alone. Another downside is that you won't have allies to heal you when you go down, but you will be able to purchase Wending Grace from merchants in Limveld, which will pick you up once when playing alone.
Wending Grace will only appear in merchants' inventory when playing solo, and does not exist for Multiplayer.
