How to Unlock Arch-Tempered Uth Duna in Monster Hunter Wilds
Arch-Tempered Uth Duna is an automatic addition to the game, as part of the Festival of Accord: Flamefete event update released on July 23, 2025. Simply download the new update and its respective Event Quest, 'These Roots Run Deep,' will become available. You can start the quest by talking to Alma at any Base Camp or Lotta at the Quest Counter in the Grand Hub.
Similar to Arch-tempered Rey Dau (who is now a permanent addition to the game), this version of Uth Duna will not pull any punches, so go in prepared. Eat a meal that provides you with buffs, such as Moxie Meal, and those that amplify your attacks while fighting in water. Bring powerful Thunder-elemental weapons such as those from Lagiacrus and have support NPCs aid you if you're tackling this solo.
How to Beat Arch-Tempered Uth Duna in Monster Hunter Wilds
As expected, this battle against Arch-Tempered Uth Duna is set in the Scarlet Forest during Downpour weather, so prepare to get waterlogged. Make sure to have items like Nulberries, Mega Potions, and traps. Battle mechanics are largely the same as any other faceoff with Uth Duna, but if you need a refresher, here are some tips for how to deal with its attacks.
The main difference is that Arch-tempered Uth Duna's attacks all hit extremely hard, even with strong buffs like Mega Armorskin. Meals that boost defense are a big plus here. Depending on your weapon type, and especially if you're going solo, staying mobile on your Seikret is a good strategy. This will help you avoid Uth Duna's most lethal attacks, such as its body slams. You can let your support hunters keep the monster busy while you look for opportunistic moments to strike or even land a mount for extra damage.
Make use of the environment around you, as Uth Duna will often wander to spots with debris that you can yank down onto it with your Slinger. This guarantees thousands of extra damage points, which you'll need with its beefy health gauge. Remember to set Shock and Pitfall traps when possible, as this gives you brief opportunities to deal damage safely.
Once slain, carve the carcass for extra materials, as with any other regular hunt.
