Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma tasks players with not only earning money to fund their gear upgrades and gift purchases, but also the feeding and ongoing maintenance of four different villages. As such, players need a lot of cash if they're going to keep villagers happy and also make sure that their gear is up to the challenging battles that crop up later in the main story. In this guide, I'll be running through the best methods for earning money in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, so you don't need to worry about it.

Rune Factory has been rich with installments, but some entries in Marvelous' JRPG franchise are better than others.

How to Get Money Easily in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

There are a few different ways you can easily get money in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. These are:

  • Sell Old Gear
  • Prioritize the Best Crops
  • Collect Village Produce
  • Check the Requests Boards Every Day
  • Clear Out Your Inventory
  • Build Businesses in Every Village
  • Go Fishing Every Day

Sell Old Gear

As you progress through Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, you'll unlock new crafting recipes for better weapons. While you can upgrade your existing gear, it'll reach a point where it's more cost-effective to just craft an entirely new weapon with better stats than upgrading your old ones. At this point, you can either give your old gear to a party member if they're using worse equipment, or sell it. Selling an old sword you've upgraded a few times can net you an easy few thousand G.

The more you play, the more you'll end up with higher-value equipment sitting there unused in your inventory. Make sure to sell these, and you'll rarely feel like you're strapped for cash. Unless you want to transmog an old piece of gear to keep your party members looking stylish.

Prioritize the Best Crops

While you can plant all sorts of different crops in each of the four villages, the best way to get money fast in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is to prioritize growing the best crop for each village. The best crops have the highest base sell value and combine this with a relatively short grow time. You'll also want to maximize the usable space in each village by prioritizing field tiles. This way, you can grow more crops and therefore earn more regularly.

Every morning, run around your villages and use the Drum Dance on your crops. This speeds up their grow time massively, and you can even be harvesting some crops within 2–3 days of planting them.

Collect Village Produce

A lot of the buildings you can build for each of the villages will produce something each day. This can range from salt to soy sauce, but all of them can make you a good amount of money over time. These buildings do cost something to build, but it's not much, and they'll pay themselves back quickly. Each day, these buildings produce three or four of the products they're named after, so vinegar, soy sauce, miso, etc. Each of these can be sold for about 30-60 Gold, which adds up quickly over time.

Check the Request Boards

Every village has a request board which players can check every day for new tasks to tick off. Some of these are as simple as defeating a certain type of enemy, while others simply require you to collect five of a certain type of item. Each of these requests has a reward attached to them, and while some will reward you with seeds, food items, or tiles, a lot of them will also give you some money.

I completed three quests that would come back every day that required me to submit different common crafting materials or monster parts, such as cloth, monster horns, and feather. From these alone, I could make 1,000 G a day, and it took all of about five seconds.

Clear Out Your Inventory

Throughout your adventure in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, you'll amass a huge amount of crafting materials. These are used for upgrading your weapons, ingredients for cooking, or construction around your village. While you'll always want to make sure you have a fairly healthy supply of them, you'll quickly notice that some, like monster horns or low-quality ores, will be so common that you'll never need as much of them as you have (and getting more is very easy to do anyway).

These will quickly clog up your storage box, so make sure to check this regularly, too. The individual selling price for some of these materials is low, but when you're selling 50-70 of them at a time, they can easily net you over 2,000 G. Do a regular clearout, and you'll be surprised at how much money can be made from unused items in your inventory.

Build Businesses in Every Village

While every building has a function or offers some sort of buff to the village it's built in, if you're looking for ones that can contribute directly to your income, some are far more important. The general store and the various carts you can build will earn you a 'business income' at the end of each day. Though the money won't directly end up in your pocket, if you build enough of these, they can essentially cover the cost of feeding your villagers every day.

That then means that any money you make from the other methods in this list is pure profit that can be spent on upgrading your gear or further improving your village. Once you unlock the monster barn and befriend some beasties, assigning a villager as a tamer will also mean you'll have a steady supply of animal produce that'll add a nice chunk to your daily income, too.

Fishing Is a Big Moneymaker in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

Fishing isn't unlocked until you reach the fourth village in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, but it's well worth diving into when you do. If you're focusing purely on grinding out money, once you've tended to your crops and done anything else you want to do each day, spending a good chunk of time fishing can earn you a few thousand Gold fairly easily.

Some fish, such as tuna, will sell for over 1,000 G each, while other more common fish range from 60-300 G. Even so, sell 10 fish and you're easily looking at over 1,500-2,000 G for about 10-15 real-life minutes' work.
