As players progress through Return To Moria, they will eventually reach the Elven Quarter. There, they will find new items, materials, and unlock new recipes. However, this will only be possible with improved steel tools. It is essential for players to make a steel pickaxe, as they need it to break up the compacted dirt, which is necessary to get to the Mines of Moria. This guide will show players how to unlock the steel ingot recipe and how to craft it in LotR: Return To Moria.
How to Craft Steel Ingot In Return To Moria
Steel is just an upgraded version of iron, so ingots don't require any new materials. But to unlock the recipe, players need to find the Great Forge, and fortunately, this can be done during the main quest. As players progress through it, they will encounter compacted dirt that cannot be broken through with an old pickaxe. After that, the Ignite a Great Forge objective will appear.
When players find the Great Furnace of Narvi, they will first need to repair it to use it. To achieve this, they need to get replaceable parts that can be found in the same location:
- To the right of the forge near the stairs is the Replacement Crank. This part needs to be inserted into a gadget with a large gear that stands right in front of the forge.
- Next, players have to find the Replacement Gear. This part can be found on the left on the opposite side of the forge. To the right of the place where the part was, there is a small passage to enter. When players climb the stairs, they will see the place where they have to insert the gear.
- The Replacement Pipe can be found by going into the passage opposite the forge. However, there will be a Goblin Man there, so players will need to defeat him or sneak past him to get the pipe. To insert it, players need to go into the passage on the opposite side where they had to insert the Replacement Gear. Players cannot jump to the place where the pipe should be inserted, but it is impossible with the pipe in hand. Therefore, they have to throw the pipe there, make a platform, and then jump in and finally repair the Great Furnace.
Players can now go to the Great Furnace and activate it, after which they will immediately unlock several new recipes, including steel ingots and a steel pickaxe. To make 1 steel ingot, players need 3 iron ores, 3 coal, and 45 seconds.
