Hollow Knight and its long-awaited sequel, Silksong, are meant to be solitary games. You start without a map, compass, and no general guidance on where the heck you're supposed to go or what you're supposed to do. However, Silksong is also a hard game, and like its predecessor, many dedicated fans out there are racing to create the best mods to make the game a bit easier.

If you want to bring along a friend for the ride, there's also a "multiplayer co-op" mod for Silksong you can install on PC right now. I put "multiplayer co-op" in quotes because it's not true co-op. You can essentially join another friend's game of Silksong and see each other on the screen.

If you're wondering how to install the Silkless co-op mod for Silksong, you can follow these steps:

  • The first thing you will need to do is head over to Nexusmods and check out the mod page.
  • There are two files you will need to download.
  • BepinEx 4 and SilklessCoop.zip need to be extracted into the root game folder for Silksong.
  • If you can't find your file for Silksong, Windows users can use this path: %USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/Team Cherry/Hollow Knight Silksong/
  • You might need to right-click your friend's name on Steam to join their game.
  • Start up the game and boot up your save file. Press F5 to enable the multiplayer functionality.

If you're not playing Silksong through Steam, you'll need to check out the mod page for more info on creating a server and/or using a VPN to connect with your buddies.

The creator promises that they're going to be updating the mod with bug fixes, sound syncing, player count status, and possibly even public servers.
