Dota 2 emphasizes gathering gold to buy new items and gain a lead on the opposing team. Since the popular MOBA places great emphasis on gathering gold, players on both sides of the map scurry to get as much as possible to get new items and level up faster.
Players resort to a tactic called Stacking to get more gold and experience in Dota 2. Stacking is an effective strategy that allows players to out-farm the opposing team. However, many players are unfamiliar with stacking and how it works. Fortunately, this guide will cover everything there is to know about stacking and other helpful information.
How to Stack Camps in Dota 2
Stacking camps may be difficult for players new to Dota 2, but it can become easy with some practice. When it comes to stacking camps, players need to understand that the process involves pulling neutral creeps from a camp before every minute passes.
The player cannot stack neutral creeps if a creep remains in the camp.
To stack camps, here is what players need to do:
- Players should focus on a neutral creep camp, preferably large or ancient camps.
- Attack neutral creeps to pull them out of their spawn box, highlighted by a yellow box (press ALT). Pull creeps when a minute is about to pass, somewhere around the 53-55 second mark. (53 seconds for smaller camps and 55 seconds for larger ones).
- Rinse and repeat.
Since there are no limits to how many times camps can be stacked, players can repeat the process to accumulate a significant amount of gold and experience from neutral creep camps.
How to Prevent the Opposing Team from Stacking Camps
Players can prevent the opposing team from stacking camps by following these steps:
- Place wards in enemy-neutral camps. The ward must be placed in the yellow spawn box.
- Move to enemy neutral camp and stand within the yellow spawn box to prevent creeps from stacking, also called body blocking.
Why Stack Camps in Dota 2
Apart from accumulating significant gold and experience from neutral creep camps, here are a couple of other reasons why stacking camps is a good idea:
- It is an efficient way of farming without worrying about dealing with enemy heroes.
- Players can farm a considerable amount of gold and experience from a single camp before moving on to the next one.
- Heroes that stack camps are rewarded with 30% of the bounty, although none is deducted from the hero farming the stacked camps.
Things to Consider While Stacking Camps in Dota 2
There are a couple of considerations worth noting while stacking camps, such as:
- If done incorrectly, stacking can give the enemy team an advantage. For instance, if the enemy team comes across the stacked camp, they can farm it for more gold and experience.
- If a player wants to farm safely, stack camps in a safe area. On the flip side, stack camps near enemy towers or lanes if a player wants to kill.
