Hollow Knight: Silksong has a large number of tools and abilities that can make gameplay, especially platforming sections, much easier. Some areas, though visible to the players, might not be accessible until a certain ability is unlocked. This incentivizes backtracking to previous areas and exploring more paths, which might lead to a way out.
One such ability is the dash, which unlocks fairly early in the game, especially if the player knows where to look. Here is how to unlock this ability in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

How to Unlock Dash in Silksong
To unlock the Dash ability, you will first have to make your way to the Deep Docks, which is located at the bottom right side of The Marrow. Continue to the upper right side of the area, and you will encounter a Bellway that can be activated using Rosaries, as well as a bench, which also requires Rosaries. From the bench on the far right, head up the platforms, dealing with the multiple red ants, and exit the room from the top.
To your right will be a closed bone gate, and the path on your left leads to an encounter with multiple enemies. Deal with them to get out and head left. Once you find yourself in the room below, first attack the exploding lava on the right, which will open up a path back to the bench, and then head left. Here you will find a Weaver that you can interact with and get the Swift Step ability.
How to Sprint in Silksong
To perform the Dash, you need to press R2 or the RT on your controller, and this action can be performed midair as well. For players on keyboard, pressing the C button will perform this action. This makes a lot of fights and encounters much easier, and you can now also traverse through some paths that were inaccessible before.
One of the great things about the Swift Step is that if you hold down the button used to perform the dash, you are able to sprint very fast. This does not have a stamina bar or anything, meaning that you can run as much as you want. Performing an attack while in the running animation also changes slightly.
