If a Switch player has quit out of Tears of the Kingdom and are on the home screen, all they need to do is make sure they are connected to the internet and then press the A button to start Zelda. A prompt should appear on-screen, letting people know a new update is available to download. Press the Download button to get it started --it should only take a couple of seconds. Of course, people can still play Tears of the Kingdom without updating it, but it's recommended to do so to avoid any bugs or glitches. Updating will ensure players are getting the optimal gameplay experience.

If the prompt doesn't appear, another way to update Zelda TotK is to hover over the game's icon, press the + button, head to Software Update, and then click 'Via the Internet.' If the update is available, the game will start the process.

There are only two small notes that Nintendo has included in the update information for Tears of the Kingdom. The first one states that some players are having issues with the first main quest, "The Closed Door." The patch fixed a problem in which players were not able to clear the questline, even if they fulfilled the conditions.

The second part of the update just states that "several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience," which could literally mean anything. Some little bugs might have been found and squashed; questlines could have been cleaned up, and other issues that the dev team has decided not to go in-depth on.
