There's a solid variety of playstyles in Wayfinder, and a lot of that's attributed to the game's cast of playable characters. Each Wayfinder has their own set of skills, giving players the opportunity to find a hero who clicks with their preferred way of fighting.
However, players will need to find and unlock these characters first before they can use them in an expedition. They're fairly easy to get, though meeting their unlock criteria can be a bit confusing. Here's how you can unlock every character in Wayfinder.
10 Best Isometric ARPGs For Loot Grinding, Ranked
From Diablo 4 to Path of Exile, these isometric ARPGs are the best in the genre for die-hard loot-hunting fans.
How to Get All Characters in Wayfinder
There are eight heroes in Wayfinder so far, and players can unlock them all strictly via gameplay. Most are pretty easy to get, but others require either luck, skill, or both. You can unlock new Wayfinders by speaking with Omen, but this is only for when you get the Summoning Stone of the character you want to get. To get these stones, you'll need to do the following:
- Wingrave: Starting character. Pick first, or unlock later via the main quest.
- Niss: Same as Wingrave. Pick her first, or get her later by doing the main quest.
- Silo: Same as the previous two.
- Kyros: Open Gloom chests in Void Dungeons.
- Senja: Find and defeat a Deceiver chest in any dungeon.
- Grendel: Defeat the Bloodspawn Boss.
- Lora: Complete the Trial of Lingering Light.
- Venomess: Defeat Night's Maw, the giant wurm in the Highlands.
You can unlock the vast majority of the cast just by doing the main quest line. The outliers here are Senja and Venomess — both rely heavily on luck, but the latter also involves fighting a boss with some very specific requirements.
How to Unlock Senja in Wayfinder
To get Senja, you need to find a Deceiver, which is this game's version of Mimic chest found in other RPGs. They appear as regular wooden chests, but when you open them, they turn into monsters. Deceivers can appear in any dungeon, and every large wooden chest you find could be one. Deceivers from random events do not drop Senja's Summoning Stone.
If you're having no luck finding Deceivers at all, then you can alternatively get Senja's Summoning Stone by beating Grand Deceiver Maras later down the story.
How to Unlock Venomess in Wayfinder
Getting Venomess involves beating Night's Maw, a giant monster in the Highlands region that's somewhat akin to a world boss from Genshin Impact. You can find it in a cave near the Codex Halls. To summon Night's Maw, you'll need to get two pieces of Wurm Bait, which you can find by digging up treasure piles found all across the Highlands. These piles are fairly rare, and not all of them will yield Wurm Bait. Check near ruins and goblin camps.
Night's Maw isn't particularly hard to beat, but it does have about 200k HP, and you only get 10 minutes to fight it. Make sure to bring your strongest character when attempting this boss.
