The Hot Slugger is unique even among the other legendary weapons in Borderlands 4. It's not as crazy as some other guns, but much of its beauty comes from its simplicity, its synergy with certain builds, and of course, its cool reload animation.
If you're looking for a weapon that can delete enemies instantly in Borderlands 4, then the Hot Slugger should definitely be on your list of guns to look for. Thankfully, this gun is part of a certain boss' dedicated loot table. Here's how you can farm for it.
Minor spoiler warning regarding the name of a returning location from Borderlands 3.
Where to Get Hot Slugger in Borderlands 4
Hot Slugger can be obtained randomly from every other viable loot source. However, if you want to target-farm this weapon, then you'll need to go to Craven's Nook, one of the many Order Bunkers in Borderlands 4.
To reach Craven's Nook, fast travel to the Bones of Sanctuary, then head north. One of the main story missions will eventually lead you here, but if you aren't quite there yet, refer to the map above.
Before you can start opening Order Bunkers, you'll need to finish the One Fell Swoop main quest. Doing this will unlock Locust Canister dispensers all over Kairos. You'll need those canisters in order to melt away the bio-armor protecting the bunker doors.
Once you reach Craven's Nook, look for a Locust dispenser on top of a rock that's just below the ledge west of the bunker door. Throw the can at the door, then blast your way to the boss room.
Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death Boss Fight
The boss here is Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death, a large Bulkhead that has a few extra attacks comapred to normal Bulkheads. There's nothing particularly special about this boss, so just blast it to bits and hope that you get Hot Slugger from it. If it doesn't, hit the nearby Encore machine and try again.
All you really need to do here is to keep moving. This boss is just as aggressive as other Bulkheads, though it also has some new attacks that can catch you off guard. Just keep moving, and you should be able to avoid all of them no problem.
Hot Slugger Legendary Shotgun Effect
As its name suggests, the Hot Slugger is a slug shotgun. It fires a single, heavy projectile that deals big damage, but it also travels much slower compared to regular buckshot. Since it is a Jakobs gun, it has a higher critical damage stat, and it will ricochet shots toward other enemies if you hit a critical hit on your main target.
When Hot Slugger kills an enemy, it gains 30% bonus damage for 10 seconds. This stacks up to three times.
The Hot Slugger holds only one shot, which means it will need to be reloaded after every shot. This works wonders if your character has skills that boost the damage of your magazine's first shot. Rafa's Vitriol and First Impression skills are great examples of this.
