The Range Finder is a sniper's best friend in Battlefield 6. As its name suggests, it helps players get a proper read on how far away a target is. This may not seem like much, but considering how bullets in this game are affected by gravity, snipers will need every advantage they can get if they want to hit those long-distance headshots.
Unfortunately, there aren't any instructions on how to use the Range Finder in Battlefield 6. If you've been dying to know how this attachment works, find out here.
All Weapons in Battlefield 6
Looking for a complete breakdown of all Battlefield 6 weapons you can use in the game? Here's all 45 of them listed by weapon type.
Battlefield 6: Range Finder Keybinds and Mechanics
There is a dedicated Range Finder button that's mapped to the same button you use to change your weapon's fire mode. For mouse and keyboard users, press and hold the B key, and for controller users, press and hold D-Pad Down.
If these buttons aren't to your liking, you can always adjust your settings in BF6.
To use the Range Finder in Battlefield 6, point your gun at a target, then hold down the button mentioned above for your current input method. You'll notice that the zero distance indicator above your ammo counter would have changed to match the distance of your target. Keep in mind that rifles have a minimum zeroing distance of 100m, and if you use your Range Finder at anything closer than 100m, you may see some funky results.
Most of the maps in Battlefield 6 don't have long sightlines, but if you find yourself in Operation Firestorm or Mirak Valley, then you'll want to use your Range Finder as much as possible. This nifty gadget will make hitting those 200+ meter headshots very easy, assuming that you're firing at a stationary target.
Is Your Range Finder Not Working?
The Range Finder is a little odd, as of writing. After repeatedly trying to make it work during one much, it simply refused to cooperate during one of out matches. After quitting to the main menu and trying the same sniper rifle setup at the firing range, the Range Finder started working as intended. This might be a bug — if your Range Finder isn't doing its job, try switching weapons or classes.
No Range Finder? No Problem
One of the simplest sniper tricks in BF6 that you can do is to use the Ping system to reveal your target's distance. If you don't have a Range Finder on your gun, just ping the terrain near your target to get a rough estimate of how far away they are. Unfortunately, you can't use this trick on players themselves, as the 3D Spotting system does not reveal how far away your targets are.
