Black Swan is an excellent addition to Honkai: Star Rail's roster of DoT-based characters, and she's got a lot to offer to existing Nihility teams as well. Whenever she's in the party, expect to see huge Status Effect damage numbers, whether it's from her own attacks or from her teammates.

While Black Swan can deal respectable damage by herself, you'll only be able to get the most out of her if you put her in a group that complements each other's kits. Here are two Honkai: Star Rail team comps where Black Swan can shine most.

Triple Nihility Team (Black Swan + Kafka + Welt)

Nihility characters usually have amazing synergy between them, and this is also true for Black Swan. Kafka (when built and played properly) can constantly apply Shock to enemies and trigger DoTs earlier than intended with her Skill. Meanwhile, Welt can inflict Slow to give Black Swan more opportunities to stack Arcana on targets, significantly increasing her damage output in the process. Round the team up with a strong healer like Huohuo or Luocha depending on what you need for the content you're doing.

For those who don't know, Arcana is Black Swan's version of Wind Shear. It deals Dot Wind DMG based on Black Swan's ATK, which is then amplified for every stack of Arcana present on an enemy, stacking up to 50 times (stacks are reset to 1 once Arcana deals damage). Black Swan can stack Arcana more easily if a target is already affected by Wind Shear, Bleed, Burn, and Shock. Putting all these in consideration, having Kafka and Welt on the same team as Black Swan is a no-brainer.

As strong as this team is, it shines best against tough bosses where Welt's Slow and Imprison effects have the most value. If you want to use Black Swan and Kafka together without having to worry about SPD management, replace Welt with Ruan Mei.

Ult Spam Team (Black Swan + Asta + Tingyun)

If you want to build a team that doesn't rely as much on 5-star characters, then this composition will do just fine. Asta can step in for Welt, replacing Slow and Imprison with Burn and a team-wide SPD buff. Meanwhile, Tingyun can Black Swan extra ATK and Ultimate energy, letting her deal more damage overall. As with the previous team, feel free to pick any Preservation or Abundance character you prefer for the fourth team slot.

Black Swan's Ultimate inflicts Epiphany on all enemies, which makes them take more DMG during their turn. It also makes Arcana procs on affected targets count as Wind Shear, Burn, Bleed, and Shock. More importantly, Epiphany prevents Arcana stacks from resetting. If you have the Solitary Healing Light Cone for Black Swan, enough SPD buffs from Asta, and a well-built, C6 Tingyun, you should be able to constantly apply Epiphany, which will help Black Swan reach max Arcana stacks more easily for big bursts of DoT damage.
