Nearly a decade after launch, Human Fall Flat has sold more than 55 million copies, landing the game among the top three best-selling indie titles. First launched in 2016, Human Fall Flat is a highly popular physics-based puzzle-platform game available on PC, consoles, and mobile.

Created by No Brakes Games, a studio led by a solo developer named Tomas Sakalauskas, Human Fall Flat has more than exceeded expectations over the past decade of its existence. The game's player-base has continued to grow through being ported to various different platforms. Despite not being a conventionally well-rated game, it hasn't just survived but also thrived in the highly competitive indie games landscape, alongside evergreen hits such as Stardew Valley by ConcernedApe. Recently, updated sales figures for Human Fall Flat revealed another extraordinary feat achieved by the indie game.

As reported by PCGamesN, Human Fall Flat has officially crossed the 55 million mark, becoming the third best-selling indie game of all time. In doing so, it has edged past Stardew Valley, which now sits in fourth in the rankings. At the top of the list is Mojang's behemoth Minecraft, followed by the 2011 sandbox title Terraria in second position. It's worth noting that Mojang Studios was eventually acquired by Microsoft in 2014 and is no longer an indie studio. Moreover, in a tweet, the official Human Fall Flat account thanked fans and promised more content for the puzzle game going forward.

Human Fall Flat's Latest Sales Feat Adds to an Overall Strong Period for Indie Games

Human Fall Flat adding another feather to its cap is a reflection of the thriving state of indie games today. Some of these games, built by small teams working on a tight budget, have done so well that they have gone on to earn award wins and nominations ahead of some AAA releases. Recently, solo developer LocalThunk's Balatro made a statement by getting a Game of the Year nomination at The Game Awards 2024, in addition to winning multiple awards on the night. In 2024, gamers saw another solo developer project, Billy Basso's Animal Well, getting critical acclaim, and hence some well-deserved award nominations.

For Human Fall Flat players, there are more exciting things in the future apart from the stream of content drops. That's because No Brakes Games is set to follow up Human Fall Flat's engrossing levels at some point in the future, having already confirmed the sequel's development in June 2023.
