Ubisoft's intense first-person battle royale game Hyper Scape impressed gamers immensely when its technical beta went live recently. But many fans never got the chance to play Hyper Scape themselves. That's about to change, as Ubisoft announced during its Sunday Ubisoft Forward broadcast that Hyper Scape's Open beta is launching today on PC.

The Hyper Scape open beta is being scaled up an extra degree compared to its technical beta. That means that it'll be available to players in even more countries than it was previously and that it will be adding several new features, too. For example, the CrownCast Twitch integration app now lets viewers upgrade their battle passes just by watching. The open beta will also feature four different game modes. There are standard Crown Rush Squad and Solo modes, as well as two limited-time modes that will be detailed soon.

Hyper Scape's open beta will also feature new playable content that wasn't in the technical beta, namely new weapons and abilities. To start, the Harpy gun is now unlocked to find. It's an SMG meant to be great at close-to-mid range combat. There's also the Shockwave Hack, an AOE blast that knocks back opponents.

The final major addition in Hyper Scape's open beta is the introduction of the battle royale's in-game shop. The shop uses a Ubisoft proprietary currency named BitCrowns, with which players will be able to unlock new cosmetics. And just for players' comfort, Ubisoft assures everyone that the shop will only sell cosmetics.

In a new gameplay trailer for Hyper Scape, several of the battle royale's abilities are showcased -- including the new Shockwave Hack and Harpy SMG. But for the most part, it'll be familiar gameplay to those who have been watching Hyper Scape over the past week. It does give a sense of introduction to the game, but prior gameplay trailers do that somewhat better.

There was also a new cinematic trailer for Hyper Scape shown during Ubisoft Forward. This trailer focused on Hyper Scape's story, which is set in 2054. Virtual reality has become a prominent escape for people in this world, with the Crown Rush battle royale game at its center. However, there are mysterious happenings going on in this virtual world and people disappearing the real world. Ubisoft clearly has big plans for Hyper Scape's future and players will have to keep playing to find out what happens next.

Hyper Scape's open beta is available now on PC.
