The highly anticipated Switch 2 title Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment has been officially rated in Brazil, prompting many to predict that the game's release isn't too far off. Announced during the dedicated Switch 2 Nintendo Direct stream in April, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will notably allow players to fight hordes of enemies as Princess Zelda, along with other popular characters from the franchise.
Blending characters from The Legend of Zelda series with the hack-and-slash gameplay of Koei Tecmo's Dynasty Warriors series, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will feature similar elements as Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, released for the Switch in 2020. The game will take place during The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Nintendo has been working on it for some time, as Age of Imprisonment was initially slated to be a Switch 1 title. Fans may not need to wait much longer to get their hands on the action-packed game, as a new development implies that a 2025 release is still possible.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Wish List
As close as it will likely stick to its Age of Calamity predecessor, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment still has plenty of room for additions.
A new Twitter post from the indie Nintendo journalist necrolipe shows that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment has been officially rated in Brazil. Typically, when a game is rated by a local advisory board, it means that the most vital content is in place, indicating that the title may appear on the Switch 2 before the end of the year. Speculation surrounding Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment's release date continues to swirl, with Nintendo only confirming that the game will launch this winter. Some gamers think that November is the most obvious choice, as Nintendo regularly releases major titles during this month, including many past mainline Zelda entries. However, it's possible that an early 2026 release could also be in the cards.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Has Been Rated in Brazil
While little has been shown of the upcoming title, producer Ryota Matsushita and studio head Yosuke Hayashi recently shared some interesting details. According to the pair, the power of the Switch 2 made it easier for the development team to add more enemies to the game's epic battles, and Age of Imprisonment promises better performance when compared to Age of Calamity on the original Switch. While the first Hyrule Warriors game often struggled to reach 30 FPS, the upcoming entry is largely able to run at 60 FPS on the new console.
Nintendo has confirmed that Age of Imprisonment fits into Zelda canon, the first Hyrule Warriors title to do so. While reactions to the game's first trailer were positive, many fans of the franchise wonder when a new mainline entry will be released for the Switch 2, as no official comment has been made just yet.
