How to Get Salt Blocks in Hytale

The most reliable way to obtain Salt Blocks in Hytale is to set up fishing traps in bodies of water, which can be crafted at a Farmer's Workbench. Fishing traps can be placed above any lake, pond, or river in order to catch fish over time.

The main purpose of fishing traps is to catch fish, but floatsam like sea shells, sticks, linen scraps, Essence of Water, and, of course, Salt Blocks also get caught within them.

Whether or not a fishing trap will yield Salt Blocks upon activation is up to chance. Because of this, it is recommended that players place a large number of them to widen the net, so to speak.

Fishing traps can be loaded with Fish Bait (also crafted at a Farmer’s Workbench) to reduce the time it takes for the trap to activate and to catch rarer fish. Since bait increases the likelihood that a fish will be caught in the trap (instead of other items), do not use it when you’re farming for Salt Blocks.

Salt Blocks and processed Salt can sometimes be found as random loot inside chests.

Salt Blocks can be processed into Salt at a Chef’s Stove in Hytale. Open the Ingredients tab in the Chef’s Stove, and select Salt, and hit Craft. One Salt Block turns into 5 Salt.

Where to Buy Salt in Hytale

Alternatively, the trader NPC in the Forgotten Temple sells Salt in exchange for Essence of Life. However, there are only 10 pieces of Salt available at any one time, and the trader’s stock replenishes once every 3 days.

If you are in a rush to craft an item that requires Salt, buying it from the trader is the fastest method to get it, but the fishing trap method is more reliable for farming large quantities of Salt Blocks.
