16 years after the original game was released on the Nintendo DS, Level-5 announced that the soccer JRPG Inazuma Eleven would be remade entirely in a new game titled Inazuma Eleven RE. However, that's not all that Level-5 fans should be excited about. The developer has also revealed the launch window for the fourth main installment of the franchise, Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road, nearly nine years after it was announced.
The Inazuma Eleven franchise began with the eponymous DS game in 2008, which was then ported to Western audiences in 2014. The anime was released shortly after this game was released in Japan, spawning several installments and films, including Inazuma Eleven GO and Inazuma Eleven GO: The Ultimate Bond Griffon. As a result of its popularity, the video game franchise has had two additional installments and various spin-offs. Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road is the fourth main installment, following the Inazuma Eleven: Ares anime events. Fans would likely agree that Level-5 has had quite the comeback in recent years.
Concerning Victory Road, the developer has asked that players wait one more year for a June 2025 release window during the latest Level-5 Showcase. The game will give players access to 4501 playable characters, the highest number in the series. Players should also expect to be able to create their avatar and live in their personally customized and decorated Bond Town, better known as the world within Inazuma Eleven. Fans of the first game are going to have to wait a little longer, with an expected release window of 2026 for Inazuma Eleven RE.
Inazuma Eleven Fans Won't Need to Wait Long For the Next Set of Games
The announcement trailer for Inazuma Eleven RE shines a new light on the beloved franchise. Several changes have been made to the gameplay and general appearance, including new character sprites and dynamic dialogue sequences. As for the soccer gameplay, the touchscreen aspect returns to allow for smoother passes between players and unique ability cutscenes while shooting the ball into the goal. It looks to be a complete departure from what players have come to know of the franchise, especially with the release of Victory Road.
After 16 years since the original launch of the franchise, Inazuma Eleven and developer Level-5 are still as popular as ever. Recently, players received additional Professor Layton news and gameplay from New World of Steam. It's an exciting day for fans of Level-5 games while they wait in anticipation for both Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road in 2025 and Inazuma Eleven RE in 2026.
