  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle received stellar reviews, a surprise to round out 2024.

A new rumor claims that Disney "wants more Indiana Jones" after the successful release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was a pleasant surprise to round out 2024, and it seems that Disney isn't done with the property yet.

Upon its release earlier this month, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was met with stellar reviews. Even as a first-person game focused on stealth and melee combat, the game did a great job of capturing the spirit of the Indiana Jones movies, and is arguably the best piece of media to come from the IP in several decades. It was a considerable change of scenery for MachineGames, previously known for its work on the modern Wolfenstein games.

According to leaker and journalist Jez Corden in a recent episode of the Xbox Two podcast, "Disney picked up the phone and wants more Indiana Jones," making the claim at around 1:04:20 in the show. The company has yet to reveal any official sales numbers for the game, but it's worth remembering that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was released on Xbox Game Pass on day one. Whatever figures that Disney are seeing for the game, the company seems to be happy so far, so hopefully it can come to an agreement with Bethesda Softworks and MachineGames for more in the future.

Disney "Wants More Indiana Jones" From MachineGames

MachineGames hasn't rested on its laurels in the wake of the game's success. It has already released several new updates for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, continuing to enhance the performance and fixing several important bugs in the game. There's also the small matter of the game's PlayStation 5 release, which is currently set for early 2025 with no concrete date locked in at the moment.

Despite the rumor that Disney is pushing for more Indiana Jones video games going forward, whether or not it will be MachineGames' next project remains up in the air. Earlier this month, another rumor suggested that MachineGames might be working on several new games, including Wolfenstein 3. It's easy to forget due to its recent success with Indiana Jones, but a new Wolfenstein game is long overdue, and many gamers would not be happy to see a delay in favor of another Indy title.
