Bethesda has shared an extended "deep dive" trailer for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which serves as a lengthy introduction to its story, characters, and gameplay loop. This may very well be the final official look at Indiana Jones and the Great Circle until the inevitable launch trailer that will accompany its release in December 2024.
Developed by ZeniMax Media's Swedish subsidiary MachineGames, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been in the works since at least late 2020. The action adventure is set to debut as the first Indiana Jones game since Zynga's Indiana Jones Adventure World, a Facebook-exclusive browser experience that launched in 2011.
Bethesda started ramping up its promotional efforts ahead of the game's holiday release, first by offering the press hands-on time with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and now by treating it to a new "deep dive" trailer. With a runtime of over 14 minutes, this is by far the longest trailer that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has received to date, and it incorporates not just some previously unseen gameplay footage but also developer commentary from MachineGames Audio Director Pete Ward.
New Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Trailer Highlights Gina Lombardi and Emmerich Voss
Ward explains the game's story will begin in 1937 at Marshall College, a Bedford, Connecticut-based university where Dr. Jones teaches as a professor of archeology in the series lore. In short, the famous archeologist will stumble on a break-in in the middle of the night, realize that someone stole a priceless relic, and embark on a journey to solve the mystery stemming from this ordeal. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will also feature Gina Lombardi, an Italian journalist who will join the protagonist at the beginning of the story—not out of interest in the stolen relic, but to find her missing sister.
The trailer also highlights the game's main antagonist, Nazi archeologist Emmerich Voss, who is at the center of the global conspiracy that Indy and Gina will be looking to uncover. Among other things, it shows Voss talking to a German priest, who warns him that the relics he's searching for are dangerous and possess otherworldly powers. Voss then ominously retorts that this is precisely why the Führer is seeking them.
After introducing the game's supporting cast, the new deep dive video spends several minutes showing how Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will attempt to deliver a varied gameplay experience, which will constantly juggle between action and exploration. It also serves as yet another confirmation that players will get plenty of looks at Indy over the course of their adventure, as the game will frequently shift from a first- to third-person perspective. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released for the Xbox Series X/S and PC on December 9, followed by a PS5 version in the first half of 2025. The Bethesda-published title will also be a day-one release on PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
