While Infinity Nikki offers an experience of vibrant visuals and charismatic characters, the game has faced several controversies in less than a year. In December 2024, Infinity Nikki players expressed their frustrations with UI changes and the gradual focus on gacha mechanics. On August 31, the game revealed new furniture items, including sofas, closets, and lamp stands. The community, however, was not very enthusiastic about the additions, criticizing the steep price. Infinity Nikki Launches New Housing System, Faces New Backlash
Infinity Nikki developers apologized to players for the problems caused by the pricing and usability of furniture. In a note shared on the game's official website, it was announced that furniture packs will be temporarily removed from the Home Gallery, and that some will return in the second half of Infinity Nikki's 1.9 update. Future content in the Home Gallery will be updated, and furniture pieces in the Stellar Poems Pack and Leisure Tea Brewing Set I, II, and III will get sketches.
Furniture pieces from the Astral Radiance Pack, Echo Waterwheel, and Seasons Couch will be added as freebies through the Home ability upgrade, and their free sketches will be included in the corresponding skill level rewards. Other changes are on the way to enhance the experience of playing Infinity Nikki, such as the reintroduction of Stellar Cascade at a more affordable price at a later date. Open-world decorations will gradually become placeable within Home after adaptation and performance optimization.
In addition to apologizing for the problems caused by the new patch and promising performance improvements and more content, the devs revealed that they have prepared freebies for players: free costumes, a 90,000㎡ island with 100m of building height, and over 999 pieces of free furniture. This is another chapter in the 1.9 update, which also caused frustration because of the collaboration between Infinity Nikki and Stardew Valley. The timing of the crossover with ConcernedApe's game was heavily debated, with part of the Infinity Nikki community arguing that it was released as a distraction from monetization and development issues.
