A good superhero game needs to give the player a sense of empowerment Netherealm's Injustice 2 and its predecessor capture the feeling of controlling super-powered beings in dream battles between DC comic book heroes and villains. Injustice 2 shares several mechanical similarities with Netherealm's Mortal Kombat series with its approach to accessibility and featuring one of the best story campaigns in the fighting genre.

Both games feature spectacular ways to make the fights interesting, but thankfully Injustice 2's Super Moves are more straightforward to execute than its sister series. However, like most moves in Injustice 2, knowing when to use and defend against these Super Moves effectively in battle can make the difference between wasting the Super Meter or destroying an opponent.

How To Use Super Moves In Injustice 2

Using Super Moves in Injustice is simple to pull off, and the instructions to activate it are as follows:

  • Fill four Meter Burn Bars.
  • The player's Injustice 2 character must attack and get hit in the battle for the Burn Meters to fill.
  • To activate a character's Super Move, the player must press L2 and R2 on the PlayStation or LT and RT on the Xbox.

As with Injustice 2's Clash events, using the Super Move is all about timing and positioning. Some character will hit their moves at long range, Aquaman being a prime example, while others, such as Wonder Woman, must be in close quarters to successfully hit the Super Move.

The best way to successfully land a Super Move is to be unpredictable and land it after a combo chain or a powerful attack. A Super attack can be blocked the same way as a regular move in Injustice 2. So trying to hit a Super Move when the characters aren't mid-flow with a combo chain will make them predictable.

Defending A Super Move Event

With an activated Super Move, a cutscene will show the attack in all its glory. Whether it's Superman punching his opponents through the sky, akin to the Man of Steel movie, or the Flash using his super speed to attack his opponents using time and space, these moves are an impressive sight to behold.

However, instead of just sitting back and letting the cutscene play out, the defending player can reduce the damage of a Super Move inflicted on them. Tapping the X button during the attacks within the scene will activate a Shield icon to indicate a damage reduction. For example, during Superman's scene, each time his opponent gets, the defending player must press X twice to lessen the impact.

Injustice 2 is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
