Many first-person shooters are pretty straightforward. Players and their friends can create a plan to overcome the enemies, and the best shooters are fun to play because of that strategic element. When a shooter is built around strategy, the game gets more compelling and has players fighting harder. While both Call Of Duty and Battlefield have dominated the first-person shooter scene, many great shooters have come out that play differently. Of those shooters, the one that stands out a lot is Insurgency: Sandstorm. This title features elements of both Call Of Duty and Battlefield, but also has a tactical element, which makes gameplay a lot more challenging.
Insurgency: Sandstorm has a lot of complexities of other non-mainstream shooters. Everything in the character's loadout matters, down to the attachments. But what makes the difference between life and death is what the player is wearing. Since Insurgency: Sandstorm has maps that look different, and have different colors, players will need to blend in with this game in order to survive. The following outfits are great because they can help the player fight back better, and easily win the match.
5 Urban Security
- Equipment: Sand
- Headgear: PASGT Sand
- Facewear: Balaclava Sand
- Hands: Flight Ranger Green
- Torso: Compression Ranger Green
- Legs: Business Casual Sand
- Feet: Lightweight Sand
This outfit is great for maps that have a greenish and brownish tint to them, and that are smaller. If players don't stand out in maps like this, they can attack better. On top of that, since the character's face is covered, enemies will have a hard time figuring out if the player is there or not. This allows them to counter or surprise attack the enemy, and throw multiple enemies off at once.
Insurgency: Sandstorm has great sound design, but for enemies, this feature can throw them off. Since they won't know exactly where the player is unless they're right in front of the enemy, players can easily get multiple kills with this outfit. However, this outfit only works well in maps with dark colors because the outfit has dark tones to it. On a lighter map, players should try a different outfit.
4 White Insurgency
- Equipment: Wolf Grey
- Facewear: Half Wrap Plain Dark Grey
- Hands: Nightstalker Wrapped White
- Torso: Hoodie White
- Legs: Yeti Bottom Wolf Grey
- Feet: Sneakers White
There are a few things in this outfit that are only available in the DLC. H owever, they can be replaced by items in the base game, as long as they're the same color. In Insurgency: Sandstorm, health does not regenerate, and players have to manage stamina. With these mechanics in mind, this outfit will make the play style of this shooter manageable.
As the name indicates, this outfit is great for snowy maps or ones that have white parts to them. However, this is an outfit players should use from a distance. The closer the enemy gets to them, the better they can see the player. But if players are sniping, they can be a literal ghost that no one can see. Enemies will have a hard time countering players in this outfit, because the wearer blends in almost too well. In snow maps, the player's outline becomes a part of the landscape, which allows them to fight aggressively.
3 Worn Security
- Equipment: Desert Smear
- Uniform Camo: Desert Smear
- Headgear: Damaged PASGT Uniform Camo
- Facewear: Neck Gaiter High Desert Smear
- Eye Wear: Combat Goggles Black
- Hands: Soft Padding Desert Smear
- Torso: Blouse Dirty
- Legs: Trousers Dirty
- Feet: Worn Out Tan
Many great shooters allow for versatility in play style. Players can fight in a dynamic way with this outfit, making the game more immersive. There are many maps in the game that use the brownish and grayish pallet, but not many outfits make the player almost invisible with those colors. The Worn outfit for the security faction does this quite well.
Plus, if there are any rocks on the map, the player can blend into those since many of the things in this outfit match the color of the rocks. However, the goggles may break that illusion, as the only thing that stands out. Getting this outfit is rather easy. All players need to do is play the co-op section of Insurgency: Sandstorm and win, and they'll get this versatile outfit.
2 Grey/Sand Insurgent
- Equipment: Wolf Grey
- Facewear: Half Warp Plain Dark Grey
- Hands: Leather Sand
- Torso: Hoodie Up Light Grey
- Legs: Cargo Sand
- Feet: Standard Issue Sand
Having an outfit that allows players fight in different ways helps Insurgency: Sandstorm become an easier game. This outfit highlights just that. It can be used on a wide variety of maps, mostly in urban areas and deserts.
Much of this outfit blends in with the urban and desert landscapes, making the player hard to see, and therefore hard to hit. It allows players to be more stealthy in those maps. Plus, it's a cheaper outfit to get, so if players are low on funds, this outfit is a great choice. On top of that, the darker colors will make it hard for players to stand out, making them almost invisible for the entire match.
1 White/Tropentarn Insurgency
- Equipment: Tropentarn
- Uniform: Tropentarn
- Headgear: Boonie Uniform Camo
- Facewear: Neck Gaiter Low Tropentarn
- Hands: Soft Padding Tropentarn
- Torso: Shell Camo
- Legs: Trousers Uniform
- Feet: Lightweight Black
This outfit is the counterpart to the White Security outfit, but for the insurgency faction. It offers a lot on its own and can be great in many ways. If a player has this outfit equipped and is sniping, they can be a great overwatch for the team. Plus, like most tactical shooters where communication matters, players who are sniping can be protected by the outfit, and help locate the enemy for the team.
While it's great for sniping, it's also great for running and gunning and surprise attacks, because the snowy maps are good at hiding players who have this outfit on. However, they should stay outside, because the buildings will make them stand out more due to the white outfits on a brownish palette.
Insurgency: Sandstorm is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC.
