Invincible VS Reveals Brand New, Original Fighter That's…

Based on the hit comic series and Amazon animated adaptation, Invincible VS is a 3v3 tag fighting game that just revealed a new character at The Game Awards 2025. This new fighter announcement was one of many great reveals at The Game Awards 2025, a show that included two Star Wars announcements, two Tomb Raider reveals, and a tease for Larian Studios' next game.

First announced during the June Xbox Showcase earlier this year, Invincible VS is the first project from developer Quarter Up, a team founded by several developers who worked on 2013's Killer Instinct. Being Skybound Games' first in-house studio, Quarter Up has been given full access to the Invincible license, and has even been able to get actors like Steven Yeun and J.K. Simmons to reprise their roles from the Amazon show.

Invincible VS Introduces Original Character Ella Mental

Announced around two-thirds of the way through The Game Awards 2025, Invincible VS is adding new hero Ella Mental to its roster. After a brief introduction from the co-creator of Invincible, Robert Kirkman, Ella Mental was given a full minute to shine in a gameplay trailer. As her hero name suggests, Ella Mental's moveset utilizes all of Earth's natural elements, including fire-infused punches, icy jabs, and an ultimate attack that traps opponents in a water bubble and crushes them with giant rocks.

Unlike the rest of Invincible VS' ever-growing roster, Ella Mental did not come from the Invincible Amazon show or the original Kirkman-penned comics. Instead, Ella Mental is a wholly original character co-created by Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley, and Cory Walker solely for Invincible VS. Ella Mental's character reveal trailer also confirmed that Grammy-nominated, Philadelphia-based rapper Tierra Whack will be voicing the new hero.

Ella Mental marks the 12th character to join Invincible VS' roster, but according to developer Quarter Up, there are even more on the way. In a recent post on the official Invincible VS website recapping the Game Awards Ella Mental announcement, Quarter Up confirmed that the game's full launch-day roster will include 18 fighters, meaning that there are still six fighters left to be revealed before Invincible VS' April 30, 2026 launch.

Developer Quarter Up has also confirmed that four additional fighters will be heading to Invincible VS post-launch. Available via the Year 1 Character Pass, the identities of these four post-launch fighters haven't been confirmed just yet, but Quarter Up has confirmed that they'll be releasing between Q3 2026 and Q1 2027.

Invincible VS Announces Physical and Deluxe Editions, Pre-Order Bonus

On top of its release date reveal and Ella Mental announcement, Invincible VS also announced during The Game Awards 2025 that the game is officially available to pre-order now on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation. Pre-ordering Invincible VS will grant players the 'Zero-Suit Mark' alternate outfit for Invincible, a costume inspired by the hero's first suit from Invincible #1 and the second episode of the Amazon adaptation.
