Just days ahead of its release, InZOI publisher Krafton has announced that the anti-tamper software Denuvo will be removed from the game's Early Access launch. Fans are eager to see how the upcoming title will compete with other life sim games, with InZOI already stunning audiences with its hyper-realistic graphics and style.
For years, The Sims has been the quintessential life simulation series, with the Maxis-developed franchise having very little major competition in the genre. This changed following the reveal of InZOI in early 2024, with the game promising unparalleled immersion and photorealistic graphics, with the latter setting it apart from other games in the simulation sphere. While the Early Access release of InZOI was delayed in November 2024, it's now right around the corner, with PC players able to jump into the fun on March 28. Ahead of this long-awaited date, the game's developer has taken the time to respond to some recent backlash.
InZOI May Not Need to Match The Sims in One Area in Order to Compete
While InZOI is trying to compete with the behemoth that is The Sims, there's one area it should focus on that it strays away from its competitor.
This week, a Discord user playing the game's demo discovered that the trial version of InZOI featured Denuvo and required a constant internet connection to play. The anti-tamper software has become notorious throughout the gaming community, with many claiming that it can negatively impact game performance and even cause damage to SSDs in some cases. In a new post made on InZOI's official Discord channel (and reported by ComicBook), the title's Producer and Director Kjun has confirmed that Denuvo will be removed from the game's Early Access release. The statement explains that Denuvo was initially added to prevent illegal distribution and piracy of the game, but Krafton now understands that including it could "negatively impact the player experience far more than we originally anticipated." It's unclear whether InZOI's final version will include Denuvo, but players are happy to see that the title's developers are quick to respond to player feedback.
InZOI Will Now Launch in Early Access Without Denuvo
Earlier this month, the PC requirements for InZOI were unveiled, with prospective players needing a powerful PC to enjoy the game on its highest setting. While the title will eventually make its way onto PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, the Early Access version will only be available to PC players, with InZOI also reportedly playable on the Steam Deck. At its relatively low cost of $39.99, fans were also surprised to find out that all updates and DLC released during Early Access will be entirely free.
It was recently announced that InZOI had surpassed Hollow Knight: Silksong as the most wishlisted game on Steam, with the life sim also beating out Deadlock, Elden Ring Nightreign, and Borderlands 4. While early reviews of the game have been largely positive, many are wondering if In ZOI will live up to the hype.
