A new iPhone leak is claiming to show off the design for Apple's upcoming foldable smartphone, following in the footsteps of Samsung and Google. Foldable phones have become one of the hottest new styles of devices in the smartphone industry, with phones like the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Google Pixel Fold leading the way. The uniquely-designed smartphones feature multiple different variants, with both vertical folds allowing users to compact their phone into a smaller package and horizontal folds creating a pseudo-tablet. Now, Apple is set to be the next big phone manufacturer to jump on the foldable trend.
The introduction of a foldable iPhone has been one of the biggest rumors surrounding Apple throughout recent months. Leaks have heavily suggested that Apple is interested in bringing the foldable design to its iconic line of smartphones, though the company has yet to officially confirm its plans. An announcement for a foldable iPhone was noticeably absent from Apple's big showcase in September, however, when Apple officially revealed the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air alongside several other upcoming products. A prominent leaker could now be giving fans an early look at Apple's foray into foldable phones.
IPhone Fold Design Leaks Ahead of Official Announcement
Popular tech YouTuber Jon Prosser is sharing some early 3D renders for the upcoming iPhone Fold, said to be launching next year. The iPhone Fold will reportedly sport a similar layout to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold line of phones, folding out horizontally to increase the size of the screen. The iPhone Fold is said to boast a 5.5-inch display on the outside of the phone, while the folding interior will expand the size of the iPhone's screen to 7.8 inches. The iPhone Fold is also rumored to feature one major advantage to other similar foldable phones, with Apple claiming to have found a way to remove the crease from the interior screen. Prosser claims that the iPhone Fold is set to release sometime during 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro.
Prosser goes more in-depth about the specs and features of the new foldable iPhone within the video. The phone will reportedly include a "hole punch" camera nestled in the upper-left of the foldable screen, similar to the interior cameras used by other foldable phones. Prosser also explains more details about how Apple is intending to remove the notorious crease from its interior, said to be aided by a combination of a "metal plate more evenly dispersing pressure" and "liquid metal."
Apple Continues to Innovate and Improve the iPhone Brand
The debut of the iPhone Fold is set to be one of Apple's biggest launches yet, with the company continuing to innovate with its new devices. The previously-mentioned September showcase saw Apple breaking new ground with one of its newest phones, confirming the iPhone 17 Pro Max will boast an astounding 2 TB of storage space. Apple's array of smartphone accessories have also been a popular addition to the brand's lineup, with the AirPod headphones and the Apple Watch seeing particular popularity among fans. Apple has not officially revealed its new foldable iPhone, nor did Jon Prosser's video provide a hard release date.
With the iPhone Fold said to be on the way, 2026 looks to be a busy year for Apple and its many fans. Apple is set to debut a new low-cost revision of the MacBook in early 2026, alongside a new version of the iPhone 17 with the launch of the iPhone 17e. Apple is also heavily rumored to be developing a new set of "smart glasses" to release sometime in 2026, featuring iPhone connectivity similar to Ray-Ban's AI-powered Meta glasses. Apple could be set to break bold new ground for the iPhone line with the rumored debut of the iPhone Fold in 2026.
