EA Motive, the developer behind 2023’s Dead Space remake, is making a brand new Iron Man game. Although plenty of gamers have high hopes for a Dead Space 2 remake, releasing it after Iron Man would be a smart decision for Motive to make in order to deliver on the hype that both of these games are generating.

The Dead Space remake came out in January 2023 to a great deal of success, with critics and fans praising it for its faithfulness to the original experience while simultaneously innovating with modern technology and an updated horror atmosphere. As such, it’s a no-brainer that fans are anticipating EA Motive to release the remake for the game’s sequel, Dead Space 2. Despite this, the developer has not confirmed that a Dead Space 2 remake will be coming, but instead has announced plans for an upcoming Iron Man game.

The Upcoming Iron Man Game is an Exciting New Marvel IP For EA

EA Motive is now pushing forward on Iron Man's development following the release of the Dead Space remake.

Marvel games are doing fairly well right now. With the excitement surrounding the upcoming releases of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine, Marvel Snap currently being an immensely popular mobile game, and 2021’s Guardians of the Galaxy receiving considerable praise, it’s clear that gamers are generally happy with and excited about the Marvel games available and approaching. EA Motive’s Iron Man is the first AAA Iron Man game in years, which makes this an even more exciting release for fans of the metal-suited hero.

With there being so much time since the last AAA Iron Man game, what EA Motive’s take on the superhero will look like is completely up in the air. Marvel’s Spider-Man from Insomniac Games nails the feeling of swinging through New York as Spider-Man, and using that as a reference point for how superhero games should feel, it’s fun to speculate how flying and maneuvering in the air as Iron Man while blasting airborne and grounded enemies will feel. The Iron Man game is a new IP for EA, and in an era where remakes are being made left and right, a completely new experience is always a breath of fresh air.

Players Know What to Expect From the Dead Space 2 Remake

Motive’s Dead Space remake did considerably well in connecting with existing fans of the original game and introducing new players to the horror game through an experience that’s faithful enough to the source material and renovated enough to feel modern. The remake was an incredible success, and it only makes sense for the developer to continue it with a remake to the next installment in the franchise. That being said, a Dead Space remake, while exciting and most likely a fun time, is less groundbreaking than a new Iron Man game just because it’s a remake and many gamers have already played through or watched someone else play through the original story.

That’s not to say that a Dead Space 2 remake can’t be revolutionary, as it could be a phenomenal experience that expands upon the original’s. Nevertheless, a brand-new story is usually more thrilling than a rehashing of one that’s already been told, and that’s exactly the advantage the upcoming Iron Man game has over a Dead Space 2 remake.

Motive’s Iron Man game will be an entirely new experience for every single player, while a Dead Space 2 remake will be like a nostalgia trip for a large amount of its player base. If EA wants to drive more excitement around its upcoming releases, it would be a smart choice to focus more on the new Marvel game, Iron Man, and release it before a Dead Space 2 remake, which will most likely be a lot of the same story and gameplay elements from the original sequel that released in 2011.

EA Motive's Iron Man game is currently in development.
