When it comes to choosing an Ultra Beast for your team, what makes things tricky is that some Ultra Beasts like Pheromosa and Buzzwole share the same types, so it can be a bit tricky to decide which is better. Is Pheromosa Good in Pokemon GO?
Before deciding whether Pheromosa is good or not, it is crucial to look at its weakness, resistance, as well as stat spread. Firstly, Pheromosa is weak to Flying, Fairy, Fire, and Psychic-type Pokemon, and resistant to Bug, Dark, Fighting, Grass, and Ground-types. Considering that it is not weak to any of the popular types in PvP such as Dragon, Steel, or Water, the Pokemon's weaknesses are fairly balanced, although the number is a bit on the higher side. The only caveat is that it gets twice the damage from Flying-type moves, which can be extremely difficult to deal with even when the opponent is not taking advantage of the same-type attack bonus. When it comes to the resistance, there is a good spread as well, with resistance to Dark moves making it a great counter for Dark-type Pokemon.
While the weakness and resistance are not that decisive, it is the stats that are a deal breaker for Pheromosa. Pheromosa has a stat spread of 3213 CP, 316 Attack, 85 Defense, and 174 Stamina. One of the most standout aspects of its stat spread is the whopping 316 Attack. This makes Pheromosa a Pokemon with one of the highest possible attacking attributes in Pokemon GO. In fact, it is higher than the likes of Mewtwo and only shy of Deoxys, Xurkitree, and Kartana, keeping aside Mega evolutions.
However, things take a turn when one dives deeper into Pheromosa's stats. At 85, Pheromosa has one of the worst defense stats in the game by far. A plethora of meta Pokemon have a defense stat of around 200, and its extremely low defense stat makes the Pokemon extremely weak to any type of move in general. In fact, in a lot of cases, players will not be able to get to the Pokemon's charged move.
Speaking of the moves, they are pretty mediocre as well. The best Bug-type fast move is Bug Bite, and it is a subpar move with low energy generation. Not to forget, the other Fighting-type fast move, Low Kick, isn't that great either. As far as the charged move is concerned, the most powerful move players have is Bug Buzz, which is by far the worst move to have in this scenario because of its high energy requirement, which Pheromosa is less likely to reach. Likewise, Focus Blast and Close Combat suffer from the same issue as well, making it extremely difficult to have a viable moveset with the Pokemon.
