Spoiler warning for four Spring 2025 anime: The Beginning After the End, Teogonia, I've Been Killing Slime, and I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire!
The Spring 2025 season has been enjoyable so far. While lacking those big shows that tend to drive online discourse, the lineup has most of its bases covered, offering quite a few great romances, action, comedy, slice of life, and fantasy shows. However, Spring 2025's isekai anime selection is arguably one of the weaker ones of the last few years. The season lacks quality and, surprisingly, quantity, and it seems unlikely that any of the airing series will be remembered once Summer 2025 comes around.
That said, most of the stories feature overpowered isekai protagonists to an extent, even if there is a fairly wide discrepancy between the strongest and weakest MCs. One exception aside, the shows revolve around characters who are constantly growing stronger, and they are not currently so overwhelmingly powerful that nobody poses any threat. Let's highlight Spring 2025's most OP isekai anime MCs.
Some notes and criteria:
- An MC's strength will be measured within the context of their universes, so not specifically compared to each other.
- Only a character's current power level in the anime matters. It doesn't matter how strong they currently are in the manga or light novels.
- Yandere Dark Elf has been left out since the anime barely showcases Mariabelle and Hinata's powers, so their abilities are fairly hard to gauge. That said, they defeated a demon lord before the events of the story, so they deserve an honorable mention at the very least.
4 Kai (Teogonia)

Spring 2025's stealth isekai anime, Teogonia is pretty weird overall. While showcased during the first episode, the story's isekai element comes across as a bit of an afterthought, at least for the time being. While Kai, the protagonist, is shown to have memories of a past life in Japan, he mostly just has flashes, and, more importantly, his personality does not change once he starts to remember.
8 Most Beloved Isekai Anime Protagonists, Ranked
Not every isekai anime main character is born equal. In a genre known for divisive protagonists, here are the most loved MCs.
In a medieval-style fantasy world, Kai is one of a human village's foot soldiers, making him the first line of defense against the various creatures that regularly mount attacks. People like him are disposable, but Kai gains significant power when he regains his past life's memories and, crucially, becomes a guardian bearer. The latter just means he has been chosen as a god's representative, and he is specifically in charge of protecting a valley.
Kai is fast, strong, can heal wounds, and is a competent, if unspectacular, fighter. While he regularly struggles against strong enemies, he has shown a fantastic knack for mid-battle evolution, along with demonstrating creative usage of magic.

For the most part, discussions about The Beginning After the End have revolved around the webtoon's lackluster adaptation, which will likely go down as one of the year's biggest anime disappointments. This series has the potential to be an all-time great, at least going by the quality of the source material and its manhwa version; unfortunately, the anime falls short in nearly every area.
7 Best Anime To Watch If You Like The Beginning After The End
If you've been enjoying The Beginning After the End so far, then the following series might be right up your alley.
Still, the show does a mostly OK job of translating Arthur's progress, both in terms of his character growth and power scaling. As a toddler, Arthur began to use magic, a quick mastery that he managed thanks to his past life's experience with KI and his determination to become self-sufficient as quickly as possible. Soon after, he demonstrates a talent for sword-fighting, even if he is somewhat held back by his small body.
While essentially powerful from birth, Arthur jumps up significantly around episode 3, thanks to a relationship that he forms with a dragon and, later on, the training he receives from an elf named Virion.
Arthur is arguably stronger than the next character, but the latter is more OP in his universe.

From all the Spring 2025 isekai anime MCs, I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire's Liam has gone through the quickest evolution so far, and he is well on track to becoming one of the theme's most powerful characters of all time. Still, at the moment, he is slightly oblivious to his actual strength and the miraculous feats he can perform that go well beyond the norm for his universe.
After living the ultimate "unfortunate" life, Liam is visited by a being known as The Guide, who offers him an opportunity to reincarnate in any existence he pleases. Liam goes for a space opera mecha universe and finds himself placed in the hands of a royal family, although he is eventually abandoned and saddled with debt by his parents. However, refusing to be trampled upon in his new life, Liam sets out to become an emperor, and he is aided by a few waifus (I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire is an isekai harem, after all).
Putting aside the fact that he owns a massive fleet and a cool mecha, Liam has frequently pushed past his universe's physical and magical limitations, becoming capable of executing attacks and skills that are deemed impossible by those around him. He is still relatively vulnerable and, if blindsided, could potentially lose a fight, but he is growing stronger by the minute.
1 Azusa Aizawa (I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level Season 2)

Azusa has an unfair advantage compared to the other Spring 2025 isekai anime protagonists, simply because I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level is in its second season, granting her more time to reach her maximum potential. That said, even if she was measured solely on her state in the first few episodes of season 1, she would still rank well above any of her contemporaries, as she is just straight-up one of the most OP isekai MCS of all time.
As the title suggests, Azusa spends centuries grinding slimes, a routine that allowed her to become so powerful that she is basically untouchable in her world. While she was initially unaware of how to make the most of her magic and overwhelming strength, Azusa has, at this point, mastered most of her basic spells, putting her at the level of a goddess who can pretty much defeat anyone without needing to go out of first gear.
