Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo kick-started as a sequel to the hit manga, Jujutsu Kaisen. Modulo is set in the same world, following a long timeskip. The story takes place 68 years after the Sukuna battle, and with so much time having passed, the world and its politics have changed tremendously.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Akutami Kills Off Two Major JJK Characters In The Sequel
JJK just killed off two major characters, and fans are shocked.
In this new sequel, the Okkotsu family takes the spotlight. After all, the new main characters are the grandchildren of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin, those being Yuka and Tsurugi. Yuta’s family was officially absorbed by the Gojo Clan at the end of JJK, and thus, the legacy of this clan is still alive.
With the release of the first volume of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, new lore has been revealed about this family. Yuta and Maki’s child has officially been introduced, and he’s the most recent addition to the Gojo Clan. His name is Iori Okkotsu, and he somehow vanished 16 years ago.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo made a huge leap into the future. For the most part, it skipped 68 years of history and went straight to the time with the impending alien invasion from Simuria.
The premise for JJK Modulo is quite exciting, as is the lore. Gege Akutami just dropped some major information concerning the characters as well. Fans know very well by now that Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin get married following the events of the Sukuna Raid. It was also made clear that they have grandchildren. In other words, they definitely had at least one kid. Gege just revealed the identity of this child.
While some fans believed that Yuka and Tsurugi’s mother could be the daughter of Yuta and Maki, that turned out to be incorrect. Instead, Yuta and Maki had a son, named Iori Okkotsu. This son was their only child.
Iori Okkotsu remains a big mystery in JJK so far, but fans know very well that he is the newest addition to the Gojo Clan, as Yuta Okkotsu took over the clan following the death of Gojo Satoru.
Iori Okkotsu Disappeared 16 Years Ago
Gege revealing more information regarding the Okkotsu family was definitely exciting for the fans, and the fact that Yuta and Maki’s son’s name was finally made known was important for the lore of the story.
For a while now, fans have wondered where Yuka and Tsurugi’s father was. This was especially the case as the kids carried all the responsibilities on their shoulders to defend Japan from the alien invasion.
Gege has now officially confirmed that Iori Okkotsu left his family 16 years ago in 2070. This coincides with the year Yuka Okkotsu was born.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Has Already Set Up The Death Of The Protagonist
JJK's protagonist is going to die, and fans are heartbroken.
It seems that Yuka Okkotsu, in that regard, never met her father. Only Tsurugi knew him, albeit for a very short time as well. The reason for Iori Okkotsu’s disappearance is a huge mystery. Since he vanished right after the birth of Yuka, many believe it might have something to do with her specifically.
In all these years before his disappearance, it’s not completely clear if Iori Okkotsu was ever the Gojo Clan leader. He would inherit the title from his father, Yuta Okkotsu, but he seems to have vanished too early for that to happen. On top of that, he never inherited Rika from Yuta. She was instead passed on directly to Yuka Okkotsu.
Iori Okkotsu Is A Mysterious Man
Iori Okkotsu was recently revealed by Gege, but information about him remains scarce. However, fans did get some crumbs about him via the Okkotsu timeline chart.
Iori Okkotsu was born in 2031. At the time, Yuta Okkotsu was 30, and Maki was 29. Between then and 2069, fans know that he gets married to a woman named Mifuyu. That woman is the one fans see in the flashback with Yuka and Tsurugi. Her current whereabouts are a mystery.
In 2069, Iori Okkotsu and his wife Mifuyu have their first child, Tsurugi. A year later, in 2070, they have their daughter, Yuka Okkotsu.
Will Iori Okkotsu Return In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo?
Ever since Gege Akutami revealed who Yuka and Tsurugi’s father is, and added that he mysteriously disappeared, fans have been wondering if he will make a comeback.
At the moment, it’s unclear if Gege has any plans to bring him back in Modulo. This is especially more complicated to imagine as Modulo is a very short manga, and is already approaching its conclusion, with the final battles commencing.
I think it was during the Edo period...or maybe Keicho? I forget, but the heads of the respective households killed each other in a fight before the aristocracy. Back then, the leaders were a Limitless Cursed Technique user with the Six Eyes like me for the Gojo Family, and a Ten Shadows technique user like Megumi for the Zenin Family. There really isn’t enough time for Iori Okkotsu to be a relevant character. But, of course, the mystery of why he left is intriguing. Fans hope that, at the very least, if even briefly, he is brought up and the questions behind his disappearance are answered.
For now, fans can just theorize about what unfolded with him. Some believe his disappearance could be linked to tensions between him and his parents Yuta and Maki, while others think it could be related to Yuka being born with the ultimate technique of the Zenin clan — Ten Shadows.
His disappearance could also have been out of his control. Something like a kidnapping isn’t impossible. After all, he is the one who was set to inherit the Gojo Clan after Yuta Okkotsu, and that could’ve attracted some negative attention from others around him.
Jujutsu Kaisen's sequel, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, runs in the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. The series is set 68 years into the future, after the events of Shinjuku Showdown. The main characters of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo are Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, the grandchildren of Yuta and Maki. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 17 will be released on January 4, 2026.
