This article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga.

It’s a great time to be alive for Jujutsu Kaisen fans, as the spin-off manga project by Gege Akutami is finally here. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has already released two chapters, expanding the world that fans knew seven years ago. Yuji Itadori is not at the center of the story anymore, as the spotlight shifts to two new protagonists, siblings Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu.

In the original Jujutsu Kaisen series, Yuji Itadori was successful in taking down Ryomen Sukuna with the help of his fellow Jujutsu sorcerers. However, the world is still in danger, as extraterrestrial beings called Simurians have emerged beyond the skies. Fans are now wondering what Yuji Itadori’s role will be in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, as his past victory over Sukuna may not be the end of his journey.

Yuji Itadori Already Appeared in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

Yuji Itadori Had a Very Short Appearance

Jujutsu Kaisen_ The Fate Of Yuji Itadori In The JJK Modulo Sequel, Explained
  • Yuji Itadori appeared in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 1.
  • Yuji Itadori's status is still unconfirmed.

Gege Akutami surprised fans with Yuji Itadori’s short but meaningful appearance in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 1. No one expected Yuji to appear as early as the pilot chapter, especially given how mysterious his fate was left at the end of the original series. Make no mistake, though, Yuji has yet to return to the story, as his name, along with Gojo Satoru, was only mentioned in reference to the extraordinary sorcerers who put a stop to the Culling Game that occurred 68 years ago.

Still, Yuji Itadori’s unexpected appearance quickly raised questions among fans, wondering about his real status in the JJK sequel. This might be a hint at his continued importance in the story and the role that Yuji might play against the alien refugees who seem to possess the same powers as Jujutsu sorcerers. Yuji’s appearance might be nothing but a reference for now, but his direct involvement in the story might happen when the true conflict begins.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 4 Preview: The Alien-Human Conflict Begins

So far, Yuta and Tsurugi Okkotsu are on a mission to investigate the Simurians. Now that they know aliens are real and they have come to Earth, especially in Japan, the siblings must work together whether they like it or not, as the fate of Japan is not in the hands of veteran sorcerers like Yuji Itadori, Gojo Satoru, Maki Zenin, and Yuta Okkotsu anymore, but in theirs.

Gege Confirms Yuji Itadori Is a Model Jujutsu Sorcerer

The New Generation Is Aware of Yuji’s Feats

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 1 painted Yuji Itadori as an extraordinary Jujutsu Sorcerer, someone who left behind a legacy that even the new generation of sorcerers can’t simply ignore or surpass. He was one of the strongest jujutsu sorcerers of his time, whose strength and resolve rivaled that of Gojo Satoru. This might sound like a powerful framing for Yuji, but Gege would not put them on the same pedestal without a solid reason.

Yuji Itadori has a solid reputation as a jujutsu sorcerer, so that even decades later, his achievements are still told like legends. On top of that, his phenomenal display of power in the Culling Game has been used as a measuring stick for the new generation, especially now that Jujutsu sorcerers have grown weaker after Yuji Itadori’s time. There’s an obvious decline in the strength of the current Jujutsu sorcerers, creating a gap that Yuka and Tsurugi must overcome if they want to confront the growing threats in the world.

I will keep killing curses till I rust away because that is my role in this war.—Yuji Itadori

For now, Yuji Itadori acts as a standard for what it means to be a truly exceptional Jujutsu sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. It's not just Maki Zenin and Yuta Okkotsu whom Yuka and Tsurugi must surpass, but also the immense legacy of Yuji Itadori in the world. This would be a challenge for Yuka and Tsurugi, but the road ahead might become easier if Yuji Itadori is still alive.

Yuji Itadori Could Return As Mentor in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

Yuji Itadori Might Still Be Alive in the Current Timeline

Jujutsu Kaisen_ 7 Characters That Could Return In The Sequel

Yuji Itadori’s status in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is still unconfirmed, but there are many speculations that he is still alive somewhere. After all, Yuji is no ordinary Jujutsu sorcerer, as his father was the reincarnation of Sukuna’s twin brother, and his biological mother was none other than Kenjaku. This unique lineage could have affected his life span, potentially granting him longevity while the world moves on without him.

If that’s the case, Yuji Itadori might be intentionally concealing his presence for now, waiting for the right moment to intervene. He might pop up sometime in the future, like how he previously appeared in front of the Tokyo and Kyoto Jujutsu High students before the Goodwill event. It won't be a surprise if he becomes the "Gojo-Sensei" of Yuka and Tsurugi later on.
