The work of Gege Akutami, Jujutsu Kaisen manga finally concluded late last year, and at the time, fans were devastated to know that the series wouldn't continue, as it still had tremendous potential. Little did they know that Jujutsu Kaisen would get a sequel series written by Gege shortly after. Gege Akutami is officially back with a brand new story, as well as new characters. While Yuji Itadori was the main character of the original JJK series, new characters have taken over now, and they're the grandchildren of Yuta and Maki, namely Tsurugi and Yuka Okkotsu. The new sequel, called Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo has only just begun, and yet, Gege has already revealed that one of the main characters is about to die. In JJK Modulo Chapter 7, Yuka was revealed to have a brain tumor and she has 6 months left to live. Her fate seems to already be sealed, but she might still have a shot at surviving this ordeal in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.

With 7 chapters out right now, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has already delivered a ton of exciting content to the fans. One could say the story only just started with the 7th chapter, as big events are finally being set up.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo chapter 7 might’ve been the best one yet, but it also made a tragic reveal that Yuka is going to die. Yuka, alongside Tsurugi, and even Maru, is set up to be the main trio of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, replacing Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi. Modulo has only just started, but many fans have already grown attached to these characters.

JJK Modulu is exciting, and an iconic villain just made a comeback.
Yuka dying is definitely not something many fans expected Gege to pull off, but in JJK Modulo chapter 7, she revealed that she has a tumor in her brain. This tumor is deadly, as she mentions it being malignant, or in other words, cancerous. Either way, Yuka believes her fate is sealed as she has just 6 months left to live according to the doctor’s estimate.
Can Yuka Be Saved in JJK Modulo?
Yuka Still Has A Shot at Living
Yuka’s death would be a huge tragedy in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, and while it’s already set up to happen, given her diagnosis, she might still have a chance to live.
While human medicine and technology might not be enough to heal her, there might be other options out there. For example, if humans and aliens make peace, they could use their technology to possibly treat Yuka, saving her life in turn. It is also possible to heal her brain using RCT. Gojo created a method to destroy his brain and recreate it using RCT over and over again, so if it worked for him, it can work for Yuka.
Everything aside, it’s also possible this tumor isn’t even what it seems. It wouldn’t be impossible that this tumor was actually caused by someone’s cursed technique. After all, Yuka is Yuta and Maki’s granddaughter, and curse users or even cursed spirits could be out to harm her.
Yuka still has a lot to accomplish, and she has to carry on the legacy of Yuta Okkotsu, just like her brother is doing for Maki. Killing her would ruin that, but Gege isn’t known for sparing his characters either. At the very least, Yuka will be with readers for a while still, and will probably survive until the end of JJK Modulo.
Jujutsu Kaisen is currently one of the biggest shonen series in the world. The manga, which ended in late 2024, can be read online for free. It is available to access on Manga Plus, where this series used to be made available weekly. Jujutsu Kaisen currently has a sequel, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which runs in the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 8 will be released on October 26, 2025.
