Jujutsu Kaisen fans can’t get enough of Gege Akutami’s storytelling and world-building in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, despite the absence of familiar characters, especially Yuji Itadori. The JJK sequel has released nine chapters, and so far, most fans are happy with the direction the story is taking. Gege continues to expand the lore in inventive ways, and fans are mostly appreciative.
One major factor in the ongoing excitement for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is how Gege introduces new characters with compelling backstories. Just recently, the manga revealed Maru and Cross’ past, giving fans a deeper understanding of their struggles and motivations. At the same time, the buildup to a war bigger than the modern era is obvious, now that key players have been introduced.

Rumelians and Deskuntes Are at War in JJK Modulo

Like humans, aliens in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo also have complex societies and agendas of their own. The Simurians, specifically the Deskuntes, are against the Rumelians because of the clan’s Kalyan religion. In addition, they wanted the Rumelian territories for their Mul quarries, turning religious conflict and economic ambitions into a bitter rivalry. While there were initiatives to fix the tension between the two clans, diplomatic efforts and attempts at reconciliation repeatedly failed.
Just like that, tensions only deepened, especially after the strongest Rumelian, Dura, died in his duel with Dabura, who was revealed as a Deskunte champion, fueling resentment and sparking outrage. As revealed in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 9, the Rumelians had to flee from Simuria with tons of Mul in their attempt to preserve their people and resources from the advancing forces of Deskunte.
With Cross and Maru leading the Rumelians, alongside Jabaloma and even Dura’s killer and best friend, Dabura, they looked for another planet where they could find good neighbors. However, escaping from Simuria with precious resources in their possession invites constant danger from Deskuntes, who seem determined to follow them wherever they go, even on Earth.

Deskuntes Could Pursue the Rumelians on Earth
At present, the Rumelians are staying in Japan, trying to assess whether they could coexist peacefully with the Jujutsu Sorcerers who possess the same ability to manipulate cursed energy. The only difference is that Rumelians refer to their cursed energy as Rolloluca, which flows differently and is channeled through their third eye. They also have a special ore that could convert their Rolloluca into all forms of energy.
Fans have seen glimpses of their power in the manga, and it’s clear that Maru and Cross are two of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo right now. Not to mention Dura and Dabura, who hold more power and combat prowess than most of their kind. Though initially assumed to be the Jujutsu Kaisen's new antagonists, their backstories complicate that perception.
Following the release of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 9, fans are now bracing for a cosmic war between the Deskuntes and the Rumelians, dragging the strongest jujutsu sorcerers of the current generation into the conflict. If and when the Deskuntes pursue the Rumelians on Earth, the planet could become a battleground where Tsurugi and Yuka Okkotsu are forced to confront alien powers unlike anything they have seen before.

Deskuntes are after the Mul reserves of the Rumelians, turning the precious resource into a central point of contention that could ignite an all-out war. However, with the Rumelians staying in Japan, there’s a possibility that Jujutsu sorcerers could become involved, especially Tsurugi and Yuka Okkotsu. They could be an ally or an obstacle to the Rumelians, but with their current relationship, cooperation seems more likely.

For now, however, Jujutsu Kaisen fans will have to wait for more chapters to see how these dynamics unfold, whether the Deskuntes escalate their pursuit of Mul, and how the Rumelians, along with potential “neighbors” like Yuka and Tsurugi, navigate the looming war.
