This article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.

Fans were shocked when it was announced that Jujutsu Kaisen is getting a sequel manga titled Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo. This manga, set decades in the future, kicked off with a strong chapter. Given that the two worlds are connected, fans are, naturally, wondering if any old JJK characters will be returning, and it’s definitely a possibility. After all 68 years isn't that big of a time gap, and while it goes without saying that some, like Maki and Yuta, are dead, the others are probably still alive and will be shown in the story later down the line.

7 Fights In Jujutsu Kaisen Fans Can't Wait To See

The internet's going to explode once fans see these amazing Jujutsu Kaisen fights get animated.

Usami

A Minor JJK Character Who Will Play a Huge Role in Modulo

Gojo's past in Jujutsu Kaisen

Usami is quite a mysterious character in JJK. Not much is known about him, except a few details here and there. For example, fans know he is a grade 1 sorcerer, but also that Gojo Satoru hated him. What’s so peculiar about Usami is that he is still alive in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo—a story set 68 years after the Shinjuku Showdown battle.

This is quite odd, since Usami was already an adult and would be far too old to be alive. Gege might be hinting at a bigger role for him to play.

Panda

He Was Seen as a Doll in The JJK One Shot

Panda was never a major character in JJK, but he was still liked by many fans. He is not a normal creature, instead, he is a cursed corpse created by Masamichi Yaga. In that sense, Panda doesn’t exactly age, and fans have already seen him with the JJK Modulo protagonists, Yuka and Tsurugi, in the JJK one-shot which dropped months ago. Panda went out of commission long ago and he is much smaller now, more like a doll. He could definitely make some kind of return in JJK Modulo.

Megumi

Megumi Would be Old, But Is Probably Alive

Megumi was one of the four main characters of the original JJK series. At the end of JJK, Megumi was 16 years old. This means that, in JJK Modulo, he should be 84. Eighty-four is old, but there is still a good chance for him to make a return somehow. After all, it would be amazing if the old protagonists reunite and guide the new generation.

Nobara

Nobara Could Still be Alive At 84

Nobara was also one of the main characters, although ignored for a lot of the original JJK story. Just like Megumi, she was 16 at the end of JJK, and 68 years later, she would be 84 as well. There is definitely a chance for her to make an eventual comeback. Fans would love to see how her life turned out after the Shinjuku Showdown arc, especially after making up with her family.

Yuji

Yuji is a Special Human Who Might Age Slower

Yuji in Jujutsu Kaisen

Yuji is, perhaps, the most likely JJK character to make a return in the sequel, JJK Modulo, and there’s a huge reason for that. Yuji is no normal human. He was Sukuna’s vessel for a good chunk of the series, and on top of that, he was birthed by Kenjaku, making him special. Gege could easily make an argument for him aging more slowly than a normal human with all these factors. Yuji could be a huge mentor for the new protagonists and guide them against the existential crisis caused by the aliens.

Sukuna

Could Have Reincarnated

Sukuna was JJK’s main antagonist, but if he were to return to Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, he would not come back as a villain, but as a hero on the side of humanity. Sukuna’s last thought after dying was to walk a different path if given another chance, and given the fact that reincarnation is real in JJK, there’s a huge chance this could happen. It would be an amazing way for Gege to tie up Sukuna’s character.

Gojo

Could Have Reincarnated

Just like Sukuna, Gojo also has a shot at coming back to Jujutsu Kaisen through reincarnation. Reincarnation is a fixed concept in JJK, and Gojo coming back would be a huge moment for all JJK fans after his tragic death in the Shinjuku Showdown battle. Gojo could be a huge asset, even though he probably wouldn’t have the Six Eyes or Limitless anymore.

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended in late 2024, but can be read online for free. It is available to access on Manga Plus where this series used to be serialized weekly. For fans who want to now check out the new JJK sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, the series can also be read on Manga Plus where it will drop weekly. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 2 will release on September 14, 2025.
